7 . The Earth (地球) is very important to us. Most of us don’t want to pollute (污染) it, but we are polluting it by using the things on the Earth wrongly. Here are some easy things that you can to to protect the environment and the Earth. Choose ideas of the following or think of a few of your own.

Plant flowers, grass or trees. Plants can make the environment around you become beautiful. Also, more trees and plants can make the air clean. Whenever you visit a park or beach, take away what you bring here—keep rubbish (垃圾) in a bag until you can throw it into a dustbin.

Turn off the tap (关掉水龙头) when you brush your teeth. You can save some water by not letting it run all the time. Also, use a glass cup instead of (代替) a paper cup because this can protect forests.

·Stop putting dirty water into rivers or lakes. In this way, you can protect plants and fish in the rivers or lakes.

·Ask all your friends to do the same things to help protect the Earth. You don’t have to wait for Earth Day to do these things. Make every day Earth Day.

If everyone does something good to protect the Earth, it will become much more beautiful.

Do you know the Kids Care Club? You can see a group of children in the club. They join it to help others. Parents, teachers and other people work with them in the club. The children there can do many things.

They can go to the old people’s home. There are many old people there. They can talk to them and play games with them. They can sing and dance with them. They can learn a lot from the old people, too. For example, the old people will tell stories to them.

They can help other children. They can make cards and gifts for sick children in hospital. They can collect (收集) clothes and shoes, and send them to poor (贫穷的).

Do you want to do the same thing? Maybe your parents or teachers can help you start (开办) the Kids Care Club.

9 . Hi, boys and girls! Welcome to our museum. It’s free. You don’t have to pay any money. But we have some rules for you. Please remember them and do as I say. 10 . One January morning. Thomas Smith is walking his dog, Jack, in the park. Mr. Smith is sitting under a tree and Jack is running on the ice (冰), the dog falls into (掉进) the water and can’t get out.

“I must save my dog.” says Mr. Smith. He doesn’t think much, and jumps into the cold water. It’s difficult for him to swim in the cold water, but he is just thinking about saving Jack.

Luckily, he helps Jack out of the water. And they are safe now. “When we get out of the water, every body asks how Jack is, and nobody is worried about me!” Mr. Smith says with a smile. Julie Brown sees this thing, too. “The dog gets onto the ice lake,” she says. “Suddenly, it starts to go under. Many people see it and they are shouting for help. But only Mr. Smith jumps into the cold water to save it.”

People think Mr. Smith is a hero (英雄). “In fact, many people in the world are doing the same as me,” Mr. Smith says. “But from now on, I must let Jack be away from the ice lake.”
