2 . 阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。

A computer program has beaten a human player at the ancient Chinese board game Go(围棋). It marked an important advance for the     1     (develop) of artificial intelligence. The program,     2     (call) Alpha Go, had taught itself how to win. It beat the European player in all five games of a match in October. The developers say     3     (it) learning ability may someday let computers help solve real world problems. Those could include making medical diagnoses and     4     (explore) scientific research.

Previous computers have beaten humans in other games. But among classic games, Go has long been viewed as the most challenging game for artificial intelligence to master. Therefore, many people find it     5    (accept) when AlphaGo won the human player.

Go involves two players who take turns putting markers on a checkerboard-like grid (格子).   Players obtain the opponent’s pieces     6     surrounding them. The rules are simple,     7     playing it is not. It’s     8     (probable) the most complex game ever created by humans.

Martin Mueller, a computing science professor,     9     (work) on Go programs for 30 years. He once said, “The new program is really a big step up from everything else that we’ve seen. It’s a very     10     (amaze) piece of work.”

A week ago, “Sports for Life'" programme was sent to the parents, requiring them to select a sport they wanted their children to play. Since then, our staff have received lots of calls from parents asking for more information about it Here is a memo (备忘录)for your reference when you answer the phones.

We expect that this will be the most popular of the four sports. Therefore, students should be advised to sign up as soon as possible. Students will take a private bus to and from Kwun Tong Sports Park. To cover the cost of hiring a bus, each student will have to pay $ 10 each time. There will be four basketball courts available for our use with one teacher watching over each game.

Sports 2: Gym

We will be using St Peter's Memorial ParL There are two reasons for choosing this park First, it is not very busy and crowded before 6:00 pm. Second, it has lot of trees with plenty of shade. Students must bring along two bottles of water to prevent thirst Three activities, skipping;, jogging, outdoor aerobics (有氧运动),all of which are free of charge, will be arranged. And there will be a teacher on duty for each of the activities.

Sports 3: Hiking

Hiking will take place at Kowloon Peak. The activity will start at 2:30 pm and finish 90 minutes later. Three teachers will accompany the students, and a hiking instructor will accompany each group of 15 hikers. Each instructor will cost $ 75/hr. Students are advised to bring plenty of water and sunscreen.

Sports 4: Swimming

The Kowloon City Aquatic Centre is a 10-minute walk from our school. Four teachers will go to the pool and conduct the goings-on from the poolside. We will only be able to reserve the pool for one hour (Le. 2:45pm to 3:45pm). Only students skilful at swimming can take up this activity. The pool will have two lifeguards present. Girls must wear a swimming suit The cost is $ 10 per visit

The VAR team supported the judges from a centralized video room. 8 . Before there was the written word, there was the language of dance. Dance expresses love and hate, joy and sorrow, life and death, and everything else in between.

1    We dance from Florida to Alaska, from north to south and sea to sea. We dance at weddings, birthdays, office parties and just to fill the time.

“I adore dancing,” says Lester Bridges, the owner of a dance studio in Iowa. “I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life.” Bridges runs dance classes for all ages. “Teaching dance is wonderful.     2    It’s great to watch them. For many of them, it’s a way of meeting people and having a social life.”

3    “I can tell you about one young couple,” says Bridges. “They’re learning to do traditional dances. They arrive at the class in low spirits and they leave with a smile.     4

So, do we dance in order to make ourselves feel better, calmer, healthier? Andrea Hillier says, “Dance, like the pattern of a beating heart, is life. Even after all these years, I want to get better and better.    5     I find it hard to stop! Dancing reminds me I’m alive.”

A.So why do we dance?
B.Dance in the U.S. is everywhere.
C.If you like dancing outdoors, come to America.
D.My older students say it makes them feel young.
E.I keep practicing even when I’m extremely tired.
