1 . What is the best soccer club in the world? The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) has named FC Barcelona the best world club of the decade (2011-2020). The Spanish club also topped the rankings(排名) for this century's first decade (2001-2010).

The ranking is determined by rating (打分) results from each of a club's matches. During the past 10 years, Barcelona won 22 trophies, including two Champions Leagues(欧洲冠军杯) and two UEFA Super Cups(欧洲超级杯), earning a score of 2,877 points. Its rival (对手) Real Madrid earned 2,782 points, while FC Bayern München ended up with 2,594 points.

The club obviously won based on its success. But what is it that truly makes a soccer club great? For one thing, the club has its own style, which is also one of the reasons it has been so successful. Instead of relying on physical strength, Barcelona players use more technical skills, especially when it comes to passing. This style works well on the field and is very entertaining(有观赏性的) to watch as well.

This style is used by some of the world's best players. Many clubs have great players, but “Barcelona is able to bring them together in a way that fans love”, said the sports website Bleacher Report. The club once had superstars like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar who played together like a “goal-scoring machine”.

Although the club has the spending power to buy big stars, they often prefer to use players from their youth team. These young players are very loyal to Barcelona. Messi is one player who has risen up through the ranks of the Barcelona academy(青训营).

When Barcelona fans cheer on their team at their home stadium, Camp Nou, they often hold signs saying “Més que un club”, which means“More than a club”. This seems to have been proven true during the past decades.

D.It plays most of its matches at its home stadium.
4. What is the story about?

2 . The Terror of the First F5 Tornado

The nonstop high plains wind suddenly fell dead still, leaving the evening air hot and heavy over Lubbock, Texas. Impossibly dark clouds hung low in the sky.

Standing in the yard outside her family’s trailer home, 12-year-old Cindy Keele saw the worry emerge in her grandmother’s face. “Go in and put on your shoes,” Keele’s grandmother said flatly. “We have to get to the storm cellar.”

The girl dashed inside. As soon as the screen door slapped shut behind her, hail (冰雹) began rapping against the roof. Keele yelled to her mother, “Grandma says we have to get to the storm cellar!” Then a hail stone the size of a softball smashed through the kitchen window. Another one punched a hole in the ceiling. And then came the sound: the unmistakable, ear-splitting roar of an approaching tornado.

Cindy Keele’s mother was suddenly on the same page. But getting herself, her three kids, and her mother to safety was no simple matter—the shelter was at the opposite end of the trailer park. If they didn’t drive, they’d never make it.

The five moved quickly to the family car, ducking to avoid hurtling pieces. At last, everyone was in the car.

“My purse!” Keele’s grandmother shouted “My purse is still in there!”

Keele jumped out of the car and ran back into the house. She fetched the purse and dashed back into the maelstrom. She almost made it. “As I ran to the car,” she says, “an enormous hailstone hit me in the back of the neck. I was told it was the size of a soccer ball.” The next few minutes were a blur for the girl. Her next clear memory is of inside the shelter.

“I guess there were 60 of us in there, plus dogs and cats,” Keele says. “The sound outside was deafening. And then, all of a sudden, it got quiet.” Cautiously, the group emerged from underground.

“My mother ran straight for our street. What she found was—nothing.” The place where our house had been were pieces of houses, but not pieces of our house. “I’d never seen my mom cry,” Keele recalls softly. “But she was on her knees. She was broken.”

May 11 marks the 51st anniversary of the 1970 Lubbock tornado, the first such storm ever to be classified F5.

1. What did Keele do in the story?
A.She dashed to the room to save her brothers.
B.She rushed to fetch her grandmothers purse.
C.She drove the family members to the shelter.
D.She ran to the cellar first with her grandmother.
2. What do we know about the tornado?

C.The tornado came with a deafening noise.
D.It was windy and sunny before the tornado.
3. It can be learnt from the story that ________.

4 . Louise Mallard has heart trouble, so she must be informed carefully about her husband's death. Louise's husband's friend, Richards, learned about a railroad disaster when he was in the newspaper office and saw Louise's husband, Brently, on the list of those killed. Louise begins sobbing when Josephine, her sister, tells her of Brently's death and goes upstairs to be alone in her room.

Louise sits down and looks out of an open window. She sees trees, smells approaching rain, and hears a peddler yelling out what he's selling. She hears someone singing as well as the sounds of sparrows, and there are white clouds in the sky. She is young, with lines around her eyes. Still crying, she gazes into the distance. She feels sad and tries to hold down the building emotions within her, but can't. She begins repeating the word "Free" to herself over and over again. Her heart beats quickly, and she feels very warm.

Louise knows she'll cry again when she sees Brently's body. His hands were tender, and he always looked at her lovingly. But then she imagines the years ahead, which belong only to her now, and spreads her arms out joyfully with anticipation. She will be free, on her own without anyone to oppress her. She thinks that all women and men oppress one another even if they do it out of kindness. Louise knows that she often felt love for Brently but tells herself that none of that matters anymore. She feels thrilled with her newfound sense of independence.

Josephine comes to her door, begging Louise to come out, warning her that she'll get sick if she doesn't. Louise tells her to go away. She imagines all the days and years ahead and hopes that she lives a long life. Then she opens the door, and she and Josephine start walking down the stairs, where Richards is waiting.

The front door unexpectedly opens, and Brently comes in. He hadn't been in the train accident or even aware that one had happened.
