1 . Have you ever wanted to travel in space? In a way you already do, because you live on Earth, and Earth is a planet floating in space.    1     They are a whole family of planets that scientists call our solar system.

The word “solar” means “having to do with the Sun”.The planets in our solar system all circle the Sun in paths called orbits.    2     It doesn't take them as long to travel around the Sun.Planets farther from the Sun have longer orbits. It takes Earth about 365 days—one year—to travel around the Sun.

3     They all spin, or rotate. It takes Earth 24 hours, or one day, to spin around one time.As Earth spins, the parts that face the Sun are lit up—it is daytime there. The parts that face away from the Sun are dark-it is nighttime.

If you could visit the other planets, you would find some strange and surprising worlds. Some are dry and rocky, while others are balls of swirling gases with solid centers. Some planets are much hotter than Earth-so hot that nothing can live there.    4     Other planets are far away from the Sun.They are very, very cold—colder than any place on Earth.

5     It is not too hot and not too cold.Earth has water to drink and air to breathe.Earth is the only planet in our solar system where plants and animals and people can live.

A.There are other planets, too.

2 . We've seen a worldwide health crisis (危机) bring out the worst in some people, but fortunately, we've also been able to see it bring out the best in others.

A taxi driver in Spain has been providing COVID-19 (新冠肺炎) patients with free rides to and from the hospitals. Doctors and nurses wanted to surprise him with their thanks for helping out.

They tricked him down to the hospital under the pretense of needing to pick up a sick patient, but in reality, doctors and nurses lined the hall waiting to applaud (鼓掌) him.

“This is a surprise that has been given to a taxi driver who takes patients to the hospitals without charge,” wrote the taxi company that first shared the video.

The man seemed completely taken aback by the gesture, stopping in the middle of the doors as the whole room cheered for him.

He was also given an envelope full of money and the satisfying results of his own COVID-19 test.

The video has since been shared tens of thousands of times across the world, because kind gestures break the language barrier (障碍).

“When the crisis is finished, there will have been two types of people... the good and the bad,” one user wrote. “With workmates like him, I am proud to be a taxi driver, son of a taxi driver, and father of a taxi driver.”

With the word in hard times, just knowing good people are there doing good deeds is something we can all appreciate.

3 . Urban Transportation in Canada

Public transportation & Transit passes

All cities and most major towns in Canada have a public transportation system with one or more modes of transportation (bus, subway, train, etc.). The bus is the most common form of urban transportation in Canada. To use public transportation, you must purchase a ticket or a transit pass. Transit passes allow you unlimited use of public transportation for a specific period (one month or more). They are usually cheaper than buying many tickets if you plan to use public transportation often.

Transportation for people with disabilities

Public transportation often has features to assist people with disabilities. In many cities and towns, there are also transportation services available specifically for people with limited mobility, such as specially equipped buses. You can find out about these services in the same way you would learn more about other public transportation options.

Etiquette on public transportation

When taking public transportation such as a bus or train, it is important to understand the unspoken rules of conduct in the shared space. Here are a few things to note:

◆ Be polite and respectful to others around you. For example, maintain an appropriate noise level when talking or making a phone call.

◆ If you are carrying a backpack or a large shoulder bag in a crowded public transit vehicle, keep it close to you, preferably at your feet to avoid hitting people with it as you walk by.

4 . International Olympic Committee (IOC) spokesperson Mark Adams said the IOC wanted to send a signal of solidarity through updating the Olympic motto.

The Olympic Movement’s value is not just about individual excellence, but about a team around you. Solidarity is just not about having values, it’s about putting values into action.

The IOC admitted adding “together” into the Olympic motto. The new motto now reads “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together”.

The idea of the motto is that you are unable to go faster, go higher and be stronger without a team around you.

If you really want to do something, you have to work with other people to achieve that. That’s the reason behind the updated motto.

The addition of “together” was proposed by Thomas Bach after he was elected as the IOC president again.

Only by uniting all of us can we ensure that everything can go smoothly. At the airport, nearly 30000 people related to the Olympic Games were tested because of COVID - 19 cases. Each of those 30,000 people has been tested twice before they arrived. All these people had three tests, nearly 100,000 tests. How great it is!
