Qingming Festival is one of most important traditional festivals in China. It falls on April 4th or 5th, where most Chinese people enjoy a public holiday. I am writing to share with you one of my favorite Chinese folk dance, the peacock dance (孔雀舞) of the Dai people, who are known as their dancing skills. It is said that about a thousand years ago, when the Dai minority learned to dance through copying the elegant gestures of the peacock, which is a symbol of happiness. The dance movements are usually performed in fixed order. The dance first start with a peacock flying out from its nest. But next it wanders around the wild, cautiously search for food. Then the peacock goes to the river bank to bath in the water and comb their feathers. In the end, the peacock spreads out the wings and flies joyful into the sky. To show a lively peacock, dancers must use a range of hand movements and eye expressions. Their knees must be flexible, too.

Last Sunday, I was on my way home after doing some shoppings in a supermarket. I stood on the road side and watched the traffic careful. When I saw it was safe, I begin to cross the road. My uncle and his family are living in Florida, America. Last summer, my mother and I flew see them from China. During the time, my uncle took us to many places. We visit the zoo at Dreher Park. On the afternoon of last Friday, the English speech competition, organized by our English club, was held in our meeting hall. It begun at 3:00 p.m. and Mr. Lee, our leading English teacher, gave an inspired opening speech. Then two students started to host the competition with both English and Chinese. We had a school trip on last Sunday. Hundreds of us students took part in it excited.
At 8:00 a.m., we set out for the top of Jiuhuang Mountain in high spirits. All the way we were chatting, singing and laughing, enjoyed the fresh air and the beautiful sceneries. When someone fall behind, others would come or offer help. About two hours later, we all reached the top. Seeing from there, the river below looked like a thin belt. We were such happy that we jumped and cheered with joy.
