In modern society, many Chinese traditional festivals are still an important part of Chinese culture, and     1     we must protect them and maintain them.

Some traditional festivals teach us a lot about our nation’s history. For example,     2     the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated in honour of Qu Yuan. By celebrating the festival with rice dumplings and dragon boat races, the story of Qu Yuan is passed down from generation to generation.

Moreover,     3    传统节日使我们更多了解中国人的价值观. Festivals, such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, have a caring, family-centre d message at their heart.     4     The full moon on the festival is considered to stand for family togetherness.

Finally, traditional festivals are a source of national pride and help shape our national identity. For example,     5     我们有腊八节 with unique customs, and these shared experiences bring us together as a people. Traditional festivals tell us who we are and fill us with pride in being Chinese.

Exercise has a range of health benefits. However, some people believe that     1     if some exercise is good, more is always better, so they tend to exercise for a long time without stopping. For example, some people go jogging for several hours at a time because of the step-counting smartphone apps.     2     还有些人周末连续锻炼数个小时 to make up for their lack of exercise during the weekdays. Habits like these put stress on the body, and if maintained over the long term,     3     they can be a serious health risk.

Generally speaking, aerobic routines that last over 100 minutes have a certain health risk. On the other hand,     4     they should not be shorter than 10 minutes. If you do exercise for only a few minutes, you may not be working out long enough to see any benefits from it. When you exercise, aim for the daily average of 30 to 60 minutes.     5     这将会防止你受伤. One day a man was asked to paint a boat by the owner of the boat. He brought with him paint and brushes and began to paint the boat bright red, as the owner asked him. While painting the boat, he saw a hole in the boat. He repaired it at once.     1     (完成刷漆后，他拿了钱便离开了。)

The next day, the owner of the boat came to the painter’s house and presented him with a nice check, much higher than the payment of painting.     2     (油漆匠感到非常惊讶。) “You’ve already paid me for painting the boat!” he said.

“But this is not for the paint job. It’s for having repaired the hole in the boat,” the owner said.

“But it was such a small service. Certainly it is not worth paying me such a high amount for something so unimportant!”

“My dear friend, you do not understand.     3     (现在让我告诉你发生了什么。) When I asked you to paint the boat, I forgot to mention the hole. When the boat dried, my kids took the boat and went on a fishing trip. They did not know that there was a hole in the boat. I was not at home at that time. When I returned and noticed they had taken the boat, I was hopeless because I remembered that the boat had a hole.     4     (然而，让我欣喜的是，他们竟然安全回家了!) It was really unbelievable!

“    5     (我立刻检查了这艘船，发现你已经修补了那个洞!) You see, now, what you did? You saved my children! I do not have enough money to pay your ‘small’ good deed.”

So, no matter where, when or how, just carefully repair all the ‘holes’ you find.
