When I was     1     teenager, I worked part-time at my uncle’s pub (酒馆). A man walked into the pub and     2     (order) three beers (啤酒), but just one of them was drunk by him. I was confused. The next day that man ordered three beers again and drank one of them     3     (quiet) at the table. He did the same thing every time he came to the pub.

In China, the history of people planting and using bamboo can date back to as far as 7000 years. In the Shang Dynasty, people used bamboo in     1    (they) daily lives. It was used for food, clothing, housing, transportation,    2    (music) instruments and even weapons.

In Chinese culture, bamboo is well-known     9     one of the “four gentlemen” in plants. To many distinguished men, bamboo is a symbol of goodness and honesty. It is always closely related to people of positive spirits. Bamboo culture contributes to encouraging people to hold on when    10    (face) tough situations.

A feeling of excitement overcame me as I looked around the stadium. At 5:30 pm, two hours before the game time, I walked into the locker room（更衣室）. C. V. Raman, a great Indian physicist, was born in 1888. His father was a lecturer in math and physics, so C. V. Raman was exposed     1     scientific things from an early age. He     2     (attend) Presidency College in 1902, getting his BA in 1904 and MA in 1907. Jay Ali, a bank manager, found it a perfect idea. He said, “I don’t want to go to weight loss classes     5     almost all participants are women there. And I don’t want to play football with my friends who are all     6    (fat) than me, so this gives me the perfect opportunity to exercise with guys who are the same     7    me. Here, no one judges me, so I don’t have to get     8    (embarrass)”. Mr. Shanahan from Staffordshire shared the same opinion, “I took part in the competition after getting fed up with (受够) weight loss classes which were     9     (main) filled with women.”

It seems that this football competition has offered fat men     10    amazing way to lose weight.
