Some designers in Japan have tried to build regenerative architecture (再生式建筑). The idea behind it is that houses can     1     (build) in such a way that they benefit the environment.

The project on Yakushima Island is called Sumu,which means both “to live” and “to become clear”,     2     (represent) the need to live in balance with nature. To achieve their goal, the designers provided some     3     (create) solutions. They built the housing that could give back to the very soil that     4     (support) it. This is the heart of regenerative architecture.

The buildings themselves were     5     (careful) placed to make use of the benefits of the nearby water and ongoing air flow. The buildings were designed around existing trees and were lifted     6     (reduce) their effect on the building site. They took full advantage of the views on the island to encourage a     7     (connect) with nature. This idea is also shown with outdoor walkways between sleeping areas     8     the common areas. Moreover, Sumu is powered by clean energy. The indoor designs are also in a simple style. They feature local wood     9     reflects elements (元素) of the forest and coast. Here you can see a good mix     10     traditional and modern styles.

Among the numerous lakes on the north of the Yangtze River, Taihu Lake is the     1    (large). Here there is a lake island famous for     2    (it) cherry blossoms (樱花). Yuantouzhu is a peninsula (半岛) extending into Taihu Lake. It is named after a giant stone     3     emerges from the lake and looks for all the world like a turtle     4     its head held high.

There are more than 30,000 cherry trees     5     over 100 varieties are planted in Yuantouzhu. From mid-March to mid-April every year, it is the best time     6    (appreciate) the beautiful cherry blossoms.

The history of cherry planting in Yuantouzhu can be traced back to     7     1930s. The cherry blossoms on either side of Changchun Bridge     8    (grow) at that time. Since then Yuantouzhu     9    (become) a cherry viewing resort in China,     10    (attract) countless tourists to enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms here every year.

2022 witnesses the 350th anniversary of Rong Bao Zhai. The badge (徽章) for Rong Bao Zhai uses the Chinese     1     (character) of “three”, “five” and “zero”. The character “three” is shaped like a book,     2     represents the long historical tradition of Rong BaoZhai. “Five” represents the interweaving of yin and yang, and the circle of “zero” means eternity and hope in the future.

Rong Bao Zhai     3     (locate) in Beijing. Its wood block printing skill was listed in the first batch of national level intangible (非物质的)     4     (culture) heritage by State Council. The technique is     5     collection of painting, engraving and printing as a whole. It can be used     6     (create) artworks and     7     (realistic) reproduce all kinds of Chinese calligraphy and paintings. Among the famous prints is “Han Xizai Evening Banquet”. The production took 8 years, using over 1,600 woodblocks and over 6,000 times of overprinting,     8     (mark) the development of the peak of wood block printing

Rong Bao Zhai pays special attention to collecting and protecting. It has collected thousands of Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasty works, and is honored     9     “tiny Palace Museum”. Over the years, the brand has also held various     10     (exhibit) and international art exchanges, becoming a window of Chinese traditional culture to the world.
