This is the first time that I     1     (spend) the Naadam Festival with my friend Burin in China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region this year. Of the three events, two have left a deep impression     4     me: wrestling and horse racing. Mongolian wrestling is different from     5     in the Olympic Games. Another vital(重要) tradition is called the Chinese tea ceremony(仪式). Poet Su Shi, also known as Su Dongpo, of the Song Dynasty, is one of the most recognized Chinese cultural icons(偶像) of all time. His calligraphy, painting and his poetry     1     (celebrate)even today.

The musical Su Dongpo,     2     (base) on Su’s lifetime story, was presented at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center on May 4, 2022. The musical tells the story of Su from his     3     (young) to his last days.

At the age of 20, Su performed     4    (brilliant)in the imperial examinations(科举考试)     5     began a long and distinguished career as     6     official, working in various governmental positions. However, he went     7     a series of political setbacks(挫折), including appointments to minor posts in     8    (distance) places. In spite of the hardships, he remained optimistic about life.

Su Shi’s love for his wife, Wang Fu, is another highlight of the musical. At 16, she married Su Shi ,     9     was 19. They had a happy marriage until Wang died 11 years later. Su Shi was heartbroken. Ten years after Wang’s death, he still couldn’t forget her and composed a ci poem after     10     (dream) of his wife, which remains one of his best-known works.

With the six solar terms (节气) in spring     1     (arrive) in order, everything wakes up from winter. Start of Spring is the first of the 24 solar terms,     2     is considered the beginning of spring. On this day, Chinese people have a custom of “biting spring,” where they eat carrots or spring cakes to celebrate     3     (it) arrival. A shower of Rain Water awakens hibernating creatures. Traditional Chinese agriculture production     6     (guide) by solar terms and so has tea production. Picking tea leaves has been one of important spring activities in China. According to data of the National Bureau of Statistics, in     7     row China’s annual tea production has     8     (continue) ranked first for years. China has been a major tea producing country since ancient times. Tea culture covers a     9     (vary) of fields and is rich in content, so getting the Chinese tea culture known to the world is     10     vital importance.

Located in Guanghan city of Southwest China’s Sichuan province and covering an area of 12 square kilometers Sanxingdui Site is the remains of the ancient Shu culture. which dates back     1     4,800-2600 years ago, and is considered to be one of the     2     (great) archaeological (考古的) discoveries in the 20th century. This particular discovery is a strong proof of the     3     (exist) of the ancient Shu State and the integrative patter of the multi-cultures of the Chinese nation. In fact, as a cultural. site Sanxingdul came into the notice of archaeologists as early asinth1930s, and     4     (exploration) were made soon. The spring of 1929,     5     a farmer Yan Daocheng unearthed a number of treasures accidentally, marked the beginning of a significant archaeological discovery. Archaeologists     6     (became) thousands of rare treasures from two large, newly-discovered sacrificial pits since the summer of 1986. Not only did Michelle Yeoh claim her first Oscar win for the hit film Everything Everywhere All At Once, but she did it while making history as the first Asian woman     1     (win) Best Actress.

For all the little boys and girls who look like me     10     (watch) tonight, this is a beacon (灯塔) of hope and possibilities. And ladies, don't let anybody tell you you're ever past your prime.

I began my journey studying in China in March 2016, when I came to Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) to get my Bachelor’s degree in Chinese language. As a youth from the US, I feel that     1     (study) in China is one of the best ways to     2     (true) understand this amazing country. Having studied at BLCU, I have the chance not only to interact with international students from all over the world but     3     (make) friends with local Chinese students.

Through various     4     (activity), I was able to develop many friendships with Chinese students. It was through these friendships     5     I had the opportunity to better understand what the university life of an     6     (averagely) Chinese student was like. Because many Chinese friends came from different areas around the country, I was able to gain a     7     (good) understanding of China than before.

Besides the activities, my absolute favorites were the     8     (time) when my close friends from school would gather in dorm room to cook and eat. It may sound like nothing special, but these     9     (be) some of my cherished memories at BLCU.

I sincerely hope that more foreigners in China can take advantage of     10     (they) time to experience the food, the culture, and especially the people.
