If students will arrive at UT Dallas (the University of Texas at Dallas) after the first day of classes, the ISSO (International Students and Scholars Office) strongly suggests they put off their admission. It’s our experience that late-arriving students have a stressful time settling in and meeting all the pre-registration requirements, such as TB Test (肺结核检查), orientations (入学培训), housing and so on. The inability to meet all these requirements may harm a student’s F-1 or J-1 visa status.
Departmental Late Arrival Letter
UT Dallas academic departments have the freedom and authority to write a late arrival letter on a student’s behalf. Departments may only offer this letter if they are willing to make a statement to CBP (Customs and Border Protection), showing that they will ensure that the late-arriving student will be able to meet all university and immigration requirements despite the late arrival.
Approval or denial of late arrival will be based on the individual worthiness of the request. The letter should be addressed to CBP and sent directly to the student from the academic department.
In general, scanned and printed images will be accepted by CBP. The letter should state:
◎ How late the department is willing to let the student start the semester. This must be a specific date.
◎ That the student will be able to enroll full-time in the academic program and make normal academic progress despite the late arrival.
The letter will not guarantee entry into the US; it simply reduces the possibility that late-arriving students will be turned away at the US Port of Entry.

4 . Biking is an amazing family activity, but finding a route that can accommodate a wide-range of ages can be a challenge.
Lee McNeil and his family are crazy about biking. They have seven children, from 4 to 24 years old. When looking for a route, they look for enough protection from traffic, good surface condition, easy access and interesting views.
With that in mind, here are some great routes for biking with your whole family, as are suggested by McNeil.
Iron Horse Trail
This is the McNeil family’s favourite ride. The route is 26 miles and goes through the 2.1mile Snoqualmie Tunnel.
“Beautiful views, the thrill the tunnel, and places to stop and watch the rock climbers make it special,” McNeil said. “All our kids have taken their turn at braving the black tunnel bravely for the first time, which we celebrate it at the end of the ride.”

Centennial Trail
The Centennial Trail runs for 23 miles from Snohomish to Bryant. The trail is wide and smooth, and is safe for kids as it is off the roads. A nice stop is Lake Cassidy east of Marysville. A dock on the lake is fun to explore. It also has picnic tables and washrooms for a convenient lunch time stop.

Cascade Trail
The Cascade Trail follows an abandoned Burlington Northern railroad grade for 23 miles between Sedro-Woolley and Concrete. Because it’s on a railroad grade, the slope is gentle and it makes for an easy family ride.
McNeil said it is a “beautiful ride up the Skagit Valley, with lots of places to watch wildlife along the river.”

7 . National Music Theater Competition
The 2024 National Music Theater Competition (NMTC) will be held. It was launched in 2011 as the first national competition for the emerging professional music theater soloist (独唱者). NMTC has provided industry connections for past competitors and winners that have led to their success on Broadway and other venues.
Prizes (each prize only for a person)
The champion: $5,000 plus a concert at the next national conference of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), a $1,000 Gift Certificate from Hal Leonard, a Career Management Services package from Stage Door Connections.

8 . Super Camp is the best learning, life and career skills summer camp for ages 11-19. It helps students prepare for future studies and enrich their experiences. By providing college-like classes, exciting outdoor activities, personal growth and character building exercises, Super Camp enables students to increase grades, sharpen study skills, and lead a better life.
There are three choices set for different students.
Super Camp Senior Forum offers 6-day and 10-day residential (寄宿制的) programs at four well-known U.S. colleges this summer: Stanford, Villanova, the University of Central Florida and Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. It helps teens develop new learning skills, in such areas as critical thinking, communication and leadership, in preparation for success throughout high school and in college.
Quantum Academy is a 6-day summer program for incoming 12th graders and college students up to 20 years of age. This program focuses on learning and career skills very important for success in college and after college.
Super Camp Junior Forum is a 6-day summer program for incoming 6th — 8th graders, which helps students develop main learning skills, in such areas as writing, reading, studying, test-taking, which will help prepare for almost all classes throughout high school.
In addition to study skills, students build confidence by learning to value themselves and realizing they can achieve anything they set their mind to. They also learn about the importance of effective communication and good relationships.
Even with all this learning going on, Super Camp is fun. Students can build deep friendships with each other through many teamwork tasks and outdoor activities.
