Health and Safety

The health and safety of all is our priority. Masks are strongly recommended.

Admission

Entrance into The Met requires a ticket or membership card. General admission is $30 for adults, $22 for seniors, and $17 for students. Admission is free for members, a caregiver accompanying a visitor with a disability, and children under 12.

Opening Hours

Sunday-Tuesday, and Thursday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. -9 p.m.

The Met is closed on Wednesdays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year Day, and the first Monday in May.

Rules

◆ All visitors and Members must pass through security checks.

◆ Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is not allowed in The Met or near the entrances.

◆ Please preserve your ticket. You may be asked to re-validate (使重新生效) your ticket when exiting and re-entering the galleries.

◆ The Met reserves the right to refuse the entry of any visitor carrying the following prohibited items: large bags, luggage, musical instruments, glass containers, liquids other than water, sporting goods, and dogs or other pets (Service animals are welcome.).

◆ The Met permits photography and video for private, non-commercial use.

Bath

Bath comes second, receiving a final “bookspiration” score of 8. 1/10. Beyond its plentiful quiet reading spots, more than seven libraries and 16 bookshops per 100, 000 people, the city also offers sufficient green spaces, perfect for eager readers to dive into their favourite books. It’s a dream destination for those with a preference for Jane Austen’s works. It’s also host to the annual Jane Austen Festival in September, featuring many immersive(沉浸式的)Regency-themed experiences.

Belfast

In third place is Belfast, scoring a respectable 7. 3/10. The Northern Irish city has 18 libraries and 55 charming bookshops to choose from. Serving as the backdrop of inspiration for CS Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, Belfast also has a bookish culture as it plays host to an annual book festival drawing in the nation’s biggest bookworms.

Bristol

Bristol with a score of 6. 8/10 secures fourth place to be a literary lover’s paradise. Thanks to its treasure of bookshops from independent to second-hand, over 17 bookshops per 100, 000 people, the lively South West city makes an incredible destination for book-shopping.

5 . The Best Activities in Melbourne

It’s time to start planning how you’ll keep entertained. We’ve put together four family-friendly activities for you.

Some visit the show for the thrilling rides, the others feel amazed at award-winning cakes, the cutest baby animals... or maybe you’re all just united in a love of sugar-filled show bags. This year’s Melbourne Royal Show is set to be bigger and better than ever, running for 11 days, with all the fantastic attractions that we know and love.

If your family has a love for the fantastical, you can get up close to mysterious dragons at Kryal Castle. There will be a wide range of activities themed around the famous creatures, including an exciting dragon egg trip and dragon soldier training. You’ll come face to face with dragons, and catch the thrilling Dragon Cup Tournament, where noble soldiers and brave knights battle for the Dragon Cup.

The activity is inviting kids to express their creativity at the immersive (沉浸式虚拟现实的) art experience. The organizer will have little kids using their personal creativity to create their own artworks that can be taken home, surrounded by the world of art and culture as inspiration. There will also be free gifts and interactive art plays. It’s suitable for age 5 to 12.

MoPA is a kids’ museum, a place where kids can engage with fun exhibits. The exhibits at MoPA are designed for kids aged 1 to 9. Kids can practice their fine motor skills, build and race in the Zoom Room, climb up to Sunset City for a sweet view of the museum and get creative at the MoPA Art Car.

Monk’s House

Put your National Trust membership to good use with a visit to Monk’s House purchased by Virginia and her husband Leonard Woolf in 1919. Virginia wrote many of her most celebrated works at the house, including the essay A Room of One’s Own. Admire the weather-boarded cottage’s beautiful antiques, seemingly untouched since 1969, when Leonard died.

Beachy Head

Come to Beachy Head and you’ll be greeted by one of the most splendid coastal stretches in all of Britain. It offers superb views of Eastbourne and the English Channel from 530 feet above the water. Spring through autumn are the best times to visit. Look out for the Beachy Head Marathon, which takes place every October. There’s a pay and display car park, a pub, toilet facilities and, during summer, the welcome sight of an ice-cream truck.

The Long Man of Wilmington

On the grassy ground of Windover Hill—a 235-foot figure known as the Long Man has been here for centuries. Archaeological researchers believe The Long Man of Wilmington actually dates to around the 16th century. If you’re feeling active, hike from The Long Man of Wilmington to East Sussex’s other chalk-carved figure, the Litlington White Horse.

Lewes

This town is just the right size to explore in a day, though do consider staying overnight to make good use of the local restaurants, pubs and wine bars. Lewes is one of the best places to shop in Sussex with a delightful mix of independent, antique and high street brands. If you’re visiting during summer, pack your bathers for a visit to Pells Pool, the oldest known freshwater swimming pool in the UK. You’ll need to pre-book a session.
