Media Matters is a new series of public conversations hosted by The Public Square, a program of the Illinois humanities Council, taking place this spring. The conversations will try to discuss the power of media today and make the public pay attention to media culture. Many famous reporters, community leaders, and media researchers and experts like this program, and it is free to the audience.
Shop Talk is a monthly discussion series held by The Public Square and the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago （UIC）. Building on our efforts to bridge the university and the community，Shop Talk will bring UIC professors to Ron’s Barber Shop （6058 W. North Ave），in the heart of Chicago’s Austin neighborhood on last Friday of every month from January to June 2019.

Romania, $33/day
If you are planning a European trip that’s affordable and a little bit off the beaten path, Romania is perfect for you. Unlike other popular places, many charming towns here remain unknown to most foreigners. You can also take free walking tours in the numerous historical sites. Hostels run $10 – $15 per night, food is hearty and delicious, and the public transportation is reliable and affordable. Meals cost $10 – $15 per day.
Arizona & Utah, $55/day
For an American Southwest road trip, you’ll spend an average of $110/day when you are solo. If you have just one other person, you’d be able to split the costs almost perfectly in half. If you have two other people along, take it down to one third and so on. The more the merrier.
South Africa, $40/day
Any hostels in South Africa are in beautiful settings and each has a unique personality, and affordable too. Food can get expensive. To save money, cook your own food. Grocery stores are plentiful and have reasonable prices. By at least cooking your own breakfast, you can save a lot of money. Spider-Man: Far From Home, July 5, US
Tom Holland, the lead actor of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, returns to play Peter Parker, a high school student who gains superpowers after being bitten by a spider.
When we see him again in theaters, Spider-Man will have a new red-and-black suit. The movie will take the famous wall-crawler on a global adventure outside of the US. According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Spider-Man will try a return to his “normal” self; he will try to find his old powers on his new journey.
Hobbs and Shaw, July 26, US
To most people the Fast and Furious series is all about crazy drivers racing in sports cars. But in Hobbs and Shaw, humor is added to the action-packed thrills.
The new film will hit US theaters on July 26. Famous English actor Jason Statham will star alongside Dwayne Johnson, “The Rock”, as Deckard Shaw and Luke Hobbs respectively (分别地), as in their previous appearances in Fast and Furious films.
When the pair fought face to face in Fast and Furious 8 (2017), a confrontation (对峙) was considered as the “battle model for warriors”. The action and chemistry really excited their audience.
But the new action scenes between an MI6 agent Hobbs and the killer Shaw will have to be good to beat their performance in the 2017 movie.
