A recent survey by China Youth Daily found that 60 percent of respondents spend a daily average of more than an hour    1     (watch) short videos, with 11 percent spending three hours or more on    2     (they). Of the 2, 017 total respondents, 74.2 percent said reasonable time    3     (manage) is necessary    4     (avoid) excessive (过多的) viewing of short videos.

Short videos can be    5     (addict) as social media platforms keep recommending relevant content once a video ends, said Yang Binyan, who is a researcher with the Institute of Journalism and Communication Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She added that short videos, often    6     (show) fragments (片段)   from day-to-day life, can induce (引诱) a feeling of social connectedness in viewers.

The number of China's online short video users reached 873 million by the end of 2020,accounting    10    88 percent of total internet users.

6 . The World Health Organization’s Internship (实习) Program offers a wide range of opportunities for graduates to gain insight (洞察力) in the technical and administrative programs of WHO while enriching their knowledge and experience in the health field.

Who are we looking for?

— You are at least twenty years of age on the date of application.

— You have completed three years of full-time studies at a university. Applicants who have already graduated may also qualify for consideration if they apply to the internship within six months after completion of their formal qualification.

— You possess a first degree in a public health, medical or social field related to the technical work of WHO or a degree in a management-related field.

— You are not related to a WHO staff member (e.g., son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father).

— You are fluent at least in one of the working languages of the office of assignment.

— You have not previously participated in WHO’s Internship Program.

— You hold a valid passport from a WHO Member State.

How to apply?

All applications should be made for the vacancies posted on the WHO Careers site using the WHO corporate recruitment system (Stellis). Don^’t miss the application deadlines.

September 1 — October 15 2020 for an internship starting January 1 — June 30 2021

January 10 — February 25 2021 for an internship starting July 1 — December 31 2021

By December 1, WHO will inform all selected candidates who applied in September and October. If you have not received any message from WHO by December 1 2020, it means that you have not been selected. For candidates who applied in January and February 2021, no information by April 15 2021 means that you have not been selected. You may apply again if you are still interested.

8 . The Children’s Library is currently offering pick-up service. Customers may tell us your requests for any books or movies over the telephone by calling (561) 6552776, on Mondays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Customers can click here to browse our available titles. Limits on requests are 15 per family. Pick-up time is 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays of the same week when requests are made. Please note some items listed as available may become unavailable before your order is filled.

Once a request is made, library staff will call you to confirm your request, and reserve pick-up time for Tuesday or Thursday between 10 a.m. and noon.

When arriving for pick-up, customers are asked to drive through the Rovensky staff parking lot, attached to the building which houses the Children’s Library. On arrival, call our Children’s Library to let them know you are here and a staff member will place your bag. Please remain in your vehicle. Please place all returns in our book drop.

The Children’s Library offers a variety of programs throughout the year, including Preschool Story Time, Family Story Time and special events. Programs for children in kindergarten and higher grades are offered during the season, November through April, on selected weekdays. Children are invited to borrow books, use iPads, play games, build with blocks and enjoy special programs at no charge.

Children of all ages, newborn through 17, must always be accompanied by an adult while in the Children’s Library. Likewise, all adults must be accompanied by a child.

10 . Edinburgh is the world’s festival city. There are 12 festivals throughout the year, half of which are celebrated during the months of July and August.

Thousands of people visit the Scottish capital during the summer. Here are some of the events they can enjoy:

The Edinburgh International Festival

This is the original Edinburgh festival, which began in 1947. Actors, musicians, dancers and opera singers from all over the world perform to huge audiences. You need tickets for most events which take place in theatres around the city.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe (艺穗节)

This is the largest arts festival in the world with thousands of shows taking place across the city. More than 20,000 artists take part, as the festival is open to anyone. Visitors can choose from a huge variety of acts.

Join thousands of visitors and locals at the Royal Mile, Edinburgh’s main street, to watch all kinds of performers and shows.

The Edinburgh International Book Festival

The largest book festival in the world began in 1983 and takes place every year in Charlotte Square Gardens, in the centre of Edinburgh. There are more than 700 events for children and adults who love books. You can meet many authors, talk to them, ask them to sign a book or listen to them talk about their stories. Children can listen to stories and watch illustrators (插画家) draw pictures.

The Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival

Music lovers come to this festival to enjoy music shows around the city. One of the highlights (精彩部分) of this musical event is the street carnival which is free to all. Artists perform street theatre, dance and circus shows in amazing costumes, and everyone can join in the dancing.
