3 . Clothes Upcycling (升级改造) Contest 2024
Are you passionate about fashion and the environment? Do you have a creative mind and want to make a positive impact on the planet? Then we have a contest for you!
We are excited to launch the Love Your Chelmsford Upcycling Clothes Contest for secondary school ages(11-18 years), to promote extending the life of our clothes and save them from going to landfills! Upcycling clothes has many benefits including reducing the impact of buying new on natural resources and reducing your carbon footprint.
You have to create clothes from used materials, and transform them into something new and exciting. Each applicant can be one individual person or one group. Applicants can apply multiple times, but only be qualified to win with one submission (提交).
How to Participate:To enter, you must be a resident of Chelmsford and aged 11-18. We will require a before and after picture of your shoes or clothes upcycling project along with a description of the materials and techniques that you used to create your masterpiece (作品). Please send your submission to loveyourchelmsford@chelmsford.gov.uk by June 30, 2024.
Recommended:Show the creation process of your masterpiece and share where everything came from.
Prizes:*Up to 100 applicants will have the option to be listed on our website to sell their upcycled work.
*The most impressive upcycled masterpiece will win a £100 Gift Voucher (礼品券) to shop at Glass Onion, plus there are 5 runner-up prizes of a 183-piece sewing kit.

4 . The Best Places for Camping Near Portland
Lost Lake
With 148 campsites, Lost Lake has plenty of room for everyone who wants to go camping near Portland. In addition to a place to park up for the night, the park also has numerous trails to explore, a public boat launch and a fishing dock(码头). But there are no electrical connections available.
Price: Tent sites range from $29- $32 depending on their location.
The Vintages Trailer Resort
Located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, camping in a vintage trailer can be a lot of fun, offering a unique lodging experience. It is a pretty luxurious experience, with terrycloth robes, pour-over coffee, and breathtaking views of the neighboring vineyards. There are plenty things to do in the surrounding valley, but primarily it is one of the nation’s top wine-producing regions.
Price: Each trailer varies.
Beaver Campground
Located in between huge old maple trees and sycamores(悬铃木), Beaver Campground makes a great place to stay. The surrounding forest is a great place to explore, and as the campgrounds are small, with only 24 campsites, you will really feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere.
Price: Between $20- $100 a night.
Oxbow Regional Park
One of the most picturesque places to go camping, the perfect place for swimming, rafting, fishing and much more, the park offers 74 drive-up campsites, each of which comes with a picnic table, fire pit, and cooking grill, and there are also 12 RV sites.
Price: $22 a night

5 . Strawberry U-Pick at the Boyd Farm
Strawberry U-Pick Season is starting! For now, we are open Monday to Friday from 10 a. m. to 3: 30 p. m. and every weekend from 9 a. m. to 5: 30 p. m. !
Not only do we have our u-pick strawberry fields, we also have fresh produce, prepicked strawberries, snacks and other farm goodies for you to buy. We also have lots of fun activities for the family—hayride with the cows, horse ride, animals to pet and feed, swings, slide, sand pile, corn hole, corn pile and more!
AdmissionAdmission is $5/person (3 and under free)

6 . Campgrounds
There are two drive-in campgrounds in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Namakanipaio and Kulanaokuaiki.
Namakanipaio
Namakanipaio Campground is operated by Hawaii Volcanoes Lodge Company. It is a large, open grassy area with tall trees. This campground has restrooms, water, picnic tables and barbecue pits (烧烤坑). Campfires are allowed in the barbecue pits only. Maximum stay is 7 days.
Fees:
There is a pay station on site.
Drive-in sites—$15. 00 per night
If there are more than two people in your party, you can expand to four people per site with another tent.
Weather may be cool year-round. Daytime temperature range: 60s to 70s F. Nighttime temperature range: 40s to low 50s F. We suggest that you use a tent with a good rainfly(帆布篷顶)and bring warm clothing for cool days and evenings.
Reservations are required.
Kulanaokuaiki
Kulanaokuaiki Campground is located about five miles down the Hilina Pali Road. The nine campsites at Kulanaokuaiki have picnic tables and tent pads, and are available on a first come, first served basis. There is NO WATER at this location. Checkout time is 11: 00 a. m. Fires are NOT permitted. Stay limit is up to 7 days.
Fees:
$10. 00 a night per site
$5. 00 a night per site for campers who hold the Interagency Senior(Golden Age)and Golden Access passes
Fees may be paid at the campground’s self-registration station.
Pets are not allowed in the campground or anywhere on Hilina Pali Road. Nighttime temperature range: high 40s to high 60s F. Daytime temperature range: high 60s to 90s F. We suggest that you use a tent with a good rainfly and bring warm clothing for cool days and evenings.

7 . It’s time to share the winners of this year’s Invent It Challenge! Here are our four winners of the first round!
Glo Zone (Ages 5-7 Individual Winner)
Kabir from California came up with this cool invention after a not-so-fun experience. He was hit by four adults on a ski trip! To make skiing and snowboarding safe for nighttime (especially for smaller kids), he created Glo Zone,a fun glowing(发光的)rainbow umbrella that is attached to skiers’ helmets.
ProTech Helmet (Ages 11-13 Individual Winner)
Pooja from New Jersey has created a light, safe helmet designed for playing frisbee (飞盘)!She came up with the idea after getting hit right under the eye at a frisbee competition and realizing she could get blinded if it were any higher. The ProTech Helmet has a lining(衬里) made of a new technology called Spin.
Ace Attachment (Ages 8-10 Team Winner)
Levi and Albert from New York dealt with helping people with disabilities enjoy sports. The Ace Attachment makes it easier for wheelchair users to play golf. Unlike similar inventions, the Ace Attachment is easily adjustable.
Skate Shoes “DOOD” (Ages 14+ Individual Winner)
It’s the worst when you ruin your favorite pair of shoes! Fortunately, Rommel from Mexico has come up with new skate shoes. These shoes have exchangeable parts that allow pieces of the shoes to be replaced with new ones when broken instead of getting rid of the whole pair.

9 . Notice on the Orderly Opening of the National Museum of China
The National Museum of China(NMC)has limited the daily visitor arrivals with a new timetable and adopted an online booking system. We hereby inform you of the following regulations:
•The NMC is open from 9:00 to 17:00(last admission at 16:00)and closes on Monday. Evening visits are temporarily cancelled.
•Visitors must make appointments 1-7 days in advance. Group reservations and on-site reservations are not accepted.
•Visitors can make online appointments through our official website or official social media platform account.
•On the day of the visit, please enter the museum with Chinese ID cards. For other documents holders, please bring the copies of the original documents used at the time of reservation.
•Visitors must enter the museum during their reserved time period to avoid crowding. If visitors miss their reserved time period, they will be refused. If visitors cannot make it on time, please apply for a cancellation in the reservation system before 15:00 on the day of the visit. Reservations cannot be cancelled after the reserved date, and the system will automatically record one’s account as “absent”. For anyone whose account contains three times of absence, the visitor will not be able to make new reservations within 90 days.
•Staff-guided tours are cancelled temporarily. Visitors must be in an orderly manner throughout the visit.
The NMC will take measures to ensure orderly and safe visits. Thanks for your support and cooperation.
