2 . Writing groups support successful academic writing for students and visiting scholars whose first language is not English or whose educational culture is not North American. Registration for Summer Writing Groups is open. Groups will begin meeting in mid-May.
What happens in a writing group?
Small groups (4-6 writers) meet for a hour every week with an English Language Specialist who guides the group. Each week: one or more members share a draft of something they are writing. They ask group members for feedback. Group members ask questions, respond to the text, make suggestions for clarification or revision. The specialist teaches writing techniques, strategies, and grammar points where appropriate.
Who can join a writing group?
Our writing group welcome the students across the world who speak English as an additional language, including graduate students and visiting scholars working on any kind of English teaching or translating!We also provide the great chance to the students and scholars whose educational culture is not North American, regardless of first language.
When can I join a writing group?
There’s no limit on the number of semesters you can participate in writing groups. Some students participate in writing groups from their first semester of course work until they complete their dissertations (学位论文). Some join for a while, take a break, and then rejoin in a following semester. Some groups work together for several semesters or even years! Groups are scheduled every semester according to the participants’ availability.

3 . Mathcamp
Mathcamp is an intensive 5-week-long summer program for mathematically talented teenagers, designed by the Mathematics Foundation of America to expose them to the beauty of advanced mathematical ideas and to new ways of thinking. Attendees can expect a comprehensive curriculum comprising lectures, workshops, and collaborative math projects, with an extensive range of subjects.
At Mathcamp, students can explore undergraduate and even graduate-level topics while building problem-solving skills that will help them in any field they choose to study. They can also study with mathematicians who are passionate about their subject, from internationally known researchers to graduate students at the start of their careers.
Eligibility:
We invite applications from high-school and middle-school students from around the world who are passionate about mathematics. Students between ages 13 and 18 are eligible (有资格的).

Why Join
Reading is good for you. It can reduce stress and increase your emotional intelligence and your creativity. The facilitated book club will also provide new insights to make you more effective in areas including leadership and communications skills, which will help you become a lifelong learner.
How It Works
Joining is completely free. You just have to get a copy of the book to enjoy. Then you can participate anywhere you have Internet access and on days and times that are convenient for you.
The book club will connect through a private forum where all participants can discuss the current book and network with each other. It will have a leader from Professional Book Club (PBC) Guru who manages the forum, shares relevant articles and facilitates conversation about topics in the book. Members will be encouraged to post and share as well.
The Books
The book club will read one book every two months so that you’ll have plenty of time for each book. We will vote among several options each period and decide on the book to read according to reader interests. Feel free to name specific titles and include things like “not too technical” or “easy but informative reads.” Our May to July Selection: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. If you have between 1 and 1.5 hours a week to read, you should be fine.

8 . Sarah Lawrence College Writers Week
Sarah Lawrence College (SLC) Writers Week is a week-long workshop for high school students to improve their skills in writing. The workshop offers online and in-person programs, so that they can be more inclusive to people who do not have access to travel. The workshop also offers a theater element, so if a student is interested in both writing and theater (or writing for theater), this would be a great opportunity.
In these programs, participants are guided by writers, poets, and performance artists to give a unique perspective (视角). Other instructors include the Sarah Lawrence staff, as well as some of their graduate students.

9 . Changi Community Chub Visit
To Green Ark Fish Farm
WHATGreen Ark is one of the fish closed fish farms in the world. It is a floating structure about the size
of the two classrooms.WHERE
Located 5km off Chang Point, the farm can produce 166, 000 kilograms of fish a year. The fish are housed in four enormous tanks. The raised fish include barramundi, red snapper and grouper. They are mainly for local consumption.
HOWThe fish are sale from threat such as all spills (溢油) and other chemicals which could kill them. The aa waler they live in is really clean. Bacteria and viruses are destroyed by ozonation (臭氧化). In this process, oxygen is blown into the tanks every hour. “All these improved conditions ensure that the waler quality remains high. This enables our fish to become healthier,” said Mrs. Linda Tan, spokesperson of Green Ark Fish Farm.

What to expectWorking alongside trained forest protectors, conservation staff and other volunteers from Monday to Friday (8: 30 a. m. —4: 30 p. m.), you’re expected to help with fence guards to keep animals safe from poachers (偷猎者), feed animals, and even help catch animals for medical treatment. During term-time, you may also work with the local community, delivering meals with nutrition to local children.
EntertainmentAfter work, you’ll have plenty of time to relax on the reserve. Be bathed in the sun by the reserve’s pool, play a few rounds of tennis or relax in the common room with your new friends. The program contains various overnight short-distance journeys in the surrounding areas such as Port Elizabeth, Jeffreys Bay and Grahamstown, where you can go hiking, windsurfing, whale-watching, horse-riding and much more.
