Our sanctuary has rescued 5 elephants from the tourism industry and we have now brought them home to live out their lives in the forest, in semi-wild conditions. We need volunteers to help us keep these elephants happy and healthy in their natural habitat. With volunteer support, we hope to return more elephants to the forest soon.
Your tasks
Performing research on the natural elephant behaviors and the surrounding forest
Taking part in community projects such as teaching English at the school and to other locals
Carrying out litter pick-ups with the kids to educate on waste management
Your Rough Schedule:
Day 1: Pickup from Chiang Mai at 9 am. Travel through a national park and stunning mountains until you arrive in our unique village. Meet your homestay family and the other volunteers, and immerse yourself in hill tribe culture.
Day 2: Wake up early to hike in the forest and find our elephants. Spend the morning recording and learning about these amazing animals and their natural behaviors. Return to the village in the late afternoon and take part in our community & camp & teaching projects.
Day 3: Another early start to hike to observe our elephants one last time. Return to Chiang Mai in the afternoon.

The show is performed first on China’s major video platform, v.qq.com, and then is aired on Heilongjiang Satellite TV on Saturdays. According to Guan Zhengwen, the show’s chief director, the letters offer a view into universal values. “There is only one standard in our selection. That is, these letters deserve to be seen by more people,” the director said.
“Different cultural backgrounds do exist in the world, but human nature can bridge different cultures. People’s understanding of themselves, others and society can be understood through writing, and that’s the power of letters,” the director said. “Chinese letters are still the mainstay of the program, but the addition of classic letters from abroad is certain to bring more tastes to it,” he added.
As a rule, the 12-episode (一集) culture program has invited many well-known Chinese celebrities. In comparison with the former two seasons, more young artists are taking part this time. “Our program’s viewers under the age of 29 account for more than 75 percent of the total. However, the popularity of celebrities among the young generation is not our selection preference,” Guan said.

" "Lookups of upcycling reflect the trend around individual actions to combat climate change—the youth activism started by Greta Thunberg； the growing trends of vegan and plant-based diets； reading and following the handbook There is No Planet B ； or fashion designers upcycling clothes to create their latest collections."
Other words on the shortlist for Word of the Year 2019 reflect the same concern with the effects of climate change, such as carbon sink （碳汇）and compostable （可降解的）.
The Cambridge Dictionary editors use data from the website, blogs, and social media to identify and rank new additions to the Dictionary. They recognized upcycling as a word to include after noticing a sharp rise in searches for the word in 2010.
