2 . Edinburgh is famous for its many museums where you can learn its rich history.

Located in the heart of Edinburgh’s city center, this appealing museum takes a fresh look at money — and much, much more. You will see coins and banknotes from over the ages, including the first Scottish banknote printed in 1727. There are also interesting interactive displays and you can even try your hand at opening a safe!

It is housed in the beautiful Lady Stair’s House, a category A listed building. The collection celebrates the legacy (遗产) of Scotland’s literary contributions, with special emphasis given to Sir Walter Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson and Robert Burns. The museum is home to numerous paintings, books and manuscripts (手稿), and you can also see Burns’ writing desk and Scott’s chess set.

It celebrates the beauty of the earth via technology. Interactive exhibits allow visitors to experience earthquakes, the ocean floor, ice ages and mountains by the use of computer software. Particularly interesting is the “tour” around the eleven Earthscapes. It is educational fun for the whole family and can serve as a good introduction to concepts surrounding the formation of the planet and the creatures we share the earth with.

The diverse collections here include the history of Scotland with exhibitions of international interest. The natural world, science and technology, discoveries, art, and world cultures are all explored. There are interactive elements and activities to suit children of all ages, including science experiments and musical instruments.

4 . Habitat Restoration Member—Pinnacles National Park

American Conservation Experience (ACE), a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with Pinnacles National Park, is seeking one habitat restoration member to contribute to habitat restoration projects alongside National Park Service (NPS) staff.

Location Details/ Description: Pinnacles National Park in Paicines, California

Position Overview: The ACE members will directly serve within the Division of Research and Resource Management at Pinnacles National Park. The members will serve as part of a crew conducting invasive (入侵的) plant treatment and habitat restoration efforts (80%). Additional duties (<20%) may include projects on other resource-related projects.

Living Allowance (津贴): The ACE member is expected to contribute 40 hours / week and will receive a living allowance of $600/week to offset (抵消) the costs of foo and incidental expenses, distributed every two weeks.

Housing: Housing is the responsibility of the member and not provided by ACE or NPS.

A personal vehicle is highly recommended.

Qualifications:

*Members must be a U. S. citizen or permanent resident.

*Ability to be both self-directed, and be a positive, contributing member of a group.

*A driver’s license.

*Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

*Must be able to hike up to ten miles per day carrying equipment weighing up to 40 pounds

*Must be willing to mix, load, and apply herbicides (除草剂) with the direct guidance of a licensed applicator.

Preferred:

*Practical knowledge of a wide range of field restoration skills and invasive plant control techniques.

*Bilingual (双语的) applicants are encouraged and welcome.

5 . Filming in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest

The Kamas Ranger District handles film permits for the Kamas district of the Wasatch- Cache National Forest.

To ensure that permits are issued in time for filming, the Forest Service requests that application form be handed in three to four weeks prior to filming.

The fee structure for filming in the National Forest is as follows:

1 to 10 people-$150 per day

11 to 30 people-$200 per day

31 to 60 people-$500 per day

Over 61 people-$600 per day

Film Monitoring Fee

1 day filming-FREE

Extra days-$200 per day

Additional fees will be charged in the following situations:

Large production (greater than 100 people), multiple site filming that may require additional film monitoring to protect natural resources and a performance agreement in the form of a deposited check.

Upon approval, a Special Use Permit will be issued with a bill for collection. Checks should be made payable to “USDA Forest Service, ” and payment must be received before filming.

Some areas of the forest are especially sensitive to impacts from vehicles, domestic animals, and people. These areas include wetlands, streams, lake shorelines, and most meadow areas. Filming requests in these sensitive areas will require special surveys to determine possible environmental impacts. The request may be denied.

Louise Bourgeois: Has the Day Invaded the Night or Has the Night Invaded the Day?

Day and night, love and rage, calm and chaos. Enter a world of emotional extremes in this exhibition of the art of Louise Bourgeois, one of the most influential artists of the past century. Born in Paris in 1911 and living and working in New York until her death in 2010, Bourgeois is well-known for her fearless exploration of human relationships across a seven-decade career.

Louise Bourgeois: Has the Day Invaded the Night or Has the Night Invaded the Day? reveals the extraordinary reach and intensity of Bourgeois’ art, from unforgettable sculptures of the 1940s to her tough yet tender weaving works of the 1990s and 2000s. It also reveals the psychological tensions that powered her search, through a dramatic presentation in two contrasting exhibition spaces. Moving from the well-lit rooms of “Day” to the darkened area of “Night”, viewers will encounter more than 120 works, including many never seen before in Australia.

10 . Food books can bring a culture to life. The following food books are bursting with delicious food, as well as entertaining and engaging storytelling.

	Pierre Thiam’s latest book aims to share everyday, easy-to-cook recipes like baked ginger-chili plantain kelewele.
