Lionel Andres Messi was born in Rosario, Argentina in 1987. As Messi grew up playing soccer     1     his older brothers, his controlling and kicking the ball became as natural and easy as breathing, and he was quite    2    (satisfy) with his progress. Then in 2016, Lang Ping led her volleyball team to Olympic gold in Brazil.

Organized by Beijing Normal University, an important forum (论坛) on the spirit of the Chinese women’s volleyball team     1     (hold) on Saturday in Beijing. Around 500 people from     2     (differ) fields attended the forum.

Giving nice speeches,     3     (professor) shared their views on the spirit of women’s volleyball and on the building of sports power. Lang Ping, chief coach of women’s volleyball team, also shared     4     (she) opinions, which made a deep impression on all the audience.

Chinese teenager Quan Hongchan won the gold medal for the women’s 10-meter platform diving at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Thursday.

Quan is the youngest of 431 athletes    1    China sent to Tokyo for the Olympics. If the Games had gone on as scheduled last summer, she would have been too young    2    (meet) the minimum age (14) to compete in the diving competition. Now, she’s made Olympic history.

Each of Quan’s dives was the highest of the five rounds of competition at the 10-meter platform. Two scored perfect 10s from all seven    3    (judge). Only one judge found a flaw (瑕疵) with her final dive,    4    (award) her a 9.5 next to six 10s. But it didn't count, because    5    diving’s scoring system. The two highest and two    6    (low) scores are thrown out and multiplied by the dive’s degree of difficulty.     7    (eventual), only the three middle 10s counted on her final dive and    8    (add) up 96 when multiplied by the 3.2 degree of difficulty.

Su Bingtian, a Chinese sprinter, set     1     new Asian record when he clocked 9.83 seconds in the men’s 100-meter sprint (短跑) semi-final at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Besides     2     (set) the shortest time record for Asia, Su is also the first Chinese    3     (make) it to the men’s 100-meter Olympic final. He has done     4     (extreme) well, considering the fact that he is much older than other     5     (compete). Also, his 172cm height is not what people would call a dream height for a sprinter.

The spirit of going beyond himself and the Olympics motto inspire Su deeply. Su and other athletes are further proof of China’s arrival in sports. But at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics,     6     Chinese athlete Liu Changchun participated in the men’s 100-meter and 200-meter events, the entire Chinese team    7     (make) up of just 6 persons, and Liu had to rely     8     donation from local Chinese-Americans to pay for his return fare.
