Known as the roof of the world, the Tibet Autonomous Region has witnessed steady progress in economic and    1    (society) development.

To promote    2    (it) splendid natural scenery and rich cultural heritage,    3    5th China Xizang Tourism and Culture Expo was held from June 16 to 18 in Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet and was attended by 612 companies from home and abroad. Xizang is the name of Tibet in Chinese.

“This international tourism and cultural expo aims to build a professional and international exhibition platform to showcase the    4    (beautiful) of Tibet’s ecology, culture, history and the new achievements of socialism modernization of the region,” Hu Heping, minister of culture and tourism, said when addressing the opening ceremony of the expo.

Jiangsu, known for its unique blend of innovation and preservation, is a true treasure. I was     1     (incredible) fortunate to journey through the cities of Suzhou and Nanjing, both of which left me fascinated with their true impressiveness and eagerly     2     (long) to explore further.

My first stop was Suzhou.     3     (engage) myself in the local industrial atmosphere, I chose a hotel in the “industrial park”,     4     the coexistence of advanced manufacturing and natural beauty was most evident, as it was situated on the edge of a scenic lake, embraced by a vibrant landscape. However, what truly amazed me was the “energy of Suzhou” represented by its people who have enormous respect for their city’s time-honored history as well as     7     innovative eye on the future.

The Grand Tang Mall in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, offers a fascinating experience that transports visitors back to the Tang Dynasty. On my second day in Anhui province, I visited Hongcun Village. The village, which is just about an     1     (hour)drive from the town center, stands untouched by time.

The village is arranged around a lake, with big shady trees lining its bank. It gave me a sense of inner peace as soon as I stepped inside.     2     (walk)through the village, I couldn’t help but imagine what life     3     (be)like then. In my mind, I saw people selling goods on the village’s street. I saw tea shops     4     small snack shops. As I walked the footpaths    5     (wear)away by time, I could hear the footsteps of the past echoing through the passageway. I wondered how     6     change this village has seen and what secrets this village     7     (hide)behind its walls.

I’ve always loved ancient Chinese     8     (architect)which unfortunately is getting difficult to find in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai.       9     (luck), here in Hongcun, I not only admired ancient Chinese styled buildings, but I was also able to trace the footsteps of the people who lived and walked     10     very same road about five hundred years ago.

Shennongjia was so named because it is said to be the place     1     the mythical Emperor Yan (Shennong) once lived. In the remote mountains and forests, Shennong tasted     2     (vary) herbs to figure out how to use them to cure sickness.

Some tourists hope to encounter the legendary yeren (wild man). They may not see any such creature,     3     they are attracted by the rich biodiversity and karst land forms (喀斯特地貌).
