China has a very long history of constructing terraces (梯田) that are famous     1    their widespread distribution (分布) and large numbers.

China’s rice terraces are     2    (main) in mountainous areas south of the Yangtze River. In these areas there is plenty of rain, but people     3    (live) there lack flat ground to grow rice.
