There was a lively discussion was held in my class last Friday. It was main about protecting the fine Chinese culture. Some suggest raising people’s awareness of preserving our culture and make people fall in love with it. For example, we could conduct creative activity like discovery tours and culture shows to help people have better understand of our culture. Others thought some courses should be offered in schools, whose goal was to help students learn more about their customs, ways of life and so on. And to my view, which mattered was that everyone should feel proud of our own culture. Beside, we should attempt to pass our fine culture down from generation to generation.

The Spring Festival is the most important festival in China, during which the whole nation will be lost in happy atmosphere.

As we all know, culture is similar with an iceberg. There are cultural roles where are obvious and easily to understand. Most of our cultural values, however, is not clear or hidden. For example, when you will visit a restaurant in Japan, people may sit in the floor and use chopsticks to eat. These eat habits are easy to come across. Western holidays such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, are getting more and more popular in China. Some Chinese people even get crazy at them. But at the same time, people seem to have more enthusiasm for our traditional festivals such as the Spring Festival and the Moon Festival. However, most people celebrate western holidays without know the meaning behind them. They just go shopping, held parties and have fun.
In my opinion, the celebration of western holidays is good way of learning about the western cultures, which help to promote understanding and communication between Chinese cultures and other cultures. However, the celebration can make our life more interesting as well as. However, we should make greatly efforts to preserve and enrich their own traditional culture.
Americans think a great deal of about time. From childhood they learn to value time. As children, they were taught to be on time to go to school, to do work and to do everything. When they are having good time, they say that time flies. When a person is dying, they say he is living on borrowing time.
Time is money, is knowledge, and is everything in America. A working American must work hard for 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week, that is the working time. On his spare time he also works for less money. Even Saturdays and Sundays are filled of activities. In the street you can hardly see a man who walk slowly. They walk very fast. In fact, they are running.
