2 . Besides “wow” and “great”, what else would you say when flying over the Earth in space? Samantha Cristoforetti, the first Italian female astronaut in space, posted several lines of a famous ancient Chinese composition on Twitter to share her joy.

She first wrote in Chinese, and then attached an accurate translation of the lines in both Italian and English to help more people understand. “Looking up, I see the immensity of the cosmos; bowing my head, I look at the multitude of the world. The gaze flies, the heart expands, the joy of the senses can reach its peak, and indeed, this is true happiness,” it says. Two days before she landed on Earth, the beauty of space and Chinese literature resonated on her Twitter account. Before long, her posts went viral on Twitter with thousands of retweets, likes and replies.

The text she quoted is from the Preface to Poems Composed at the Orchid Pavilion,a Chinese calligraphy masterpiece by Wang Xizhi (303-361) of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420). She also attached three photos taken in space of China’s Bohai Bay and the day-night view of Beijing. “The poem and views are both magnificent as well as healing. If everyone could enjoy the same sight, a lot of pain in the world would be ‘dissipated’,” one user comments.

As the first Italian female astronaut in space, Cristoforetti carried out her first space mission on Nov 23, 2014. In 2022, she started the second mission in April and returned to Earth on Friday night after a 127-day stay in orbit.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章讲述了我们对文化的理解不同,正是文化的不同才使得我们的生活多姿多彩,因此要接受文化的不同。

4 . Culture often refers to things like food, holidays, clothing, and music, but it also goes much deeper than that.     1     So when we meet people from different backgrounds, we can sometimes find that there are big differences in how we see the world, even if we speak the same language.

One of the best ways to understand others’ cultures is to first examine your own. Do you take your shoes off when you go inside?     2     In Japan, you would never go inside without swapping your outdoor shoes for slippers, whereas in the US, many people don’t bother taking their shoes off when they come in. Therefore, it’s so important to understand your place in the world, which will help you understand other people better too.

3     When you meet people from a different culture, you can politely ask them about their lives. Seek out books or watch movies by and about people who’re different from you. Additionally, you can immerse (沉浸)yourself in a different culture through travel to understand how different other lifestyles can be.

However, sometimes, learning a lot about a different culture can lead you into a trap. You may think you know much about a culture, which may lead you to show off your knowledge when you meet someone from that background. But it’s a problem to assume that everyone from one particular culture has the same attitudes and experiences. Your assumptions that lead you to pre-judge against others can be harmful.     4

Differences between us are what make life so interesting. So accept the differences between yourself and your friends from different cultures.     5     In detail, ask questions if your friends are open to it, but also learn how to just silently observe and appreciate the differences that make us unique.

A.It is a simple thing, but it’s a huge marker of culture!
B.Learning is another great way to understand different cultures.
C.Behaviors, customs, beliefs, and values are also part of your culture.
D.To achieve it, do strike a balance between curiosity and appreciation.
E.So don’t do it to others even if you understand their culture really well.
F.The more you learn, the more used you get to respecting cultural differences.
G.Wherever you live, there are probably immigrant communities (侨民团体)with their own customs.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章讲述中国茶是最古老的文化习俗之一,其传统的制茶工艺体现了谦逊、和谐和礼让的精神。它是一座连接不同文化和民族的桥梁。

6 . Tea originated in China over two thousand years ago. Today, the country owns over 2,000 varieties of tea, differing in taste, sweet and purpose. Some teas, such as Huang Shan, refresh the sense of taste with their special flavor, while others, such as spicy chai, are added with spices (香料) .

China first started exporting tea during the Ming dynasty (1368—1644), and the drink has since come to lead humanity’s drinking habits far beyond Asia. It is the most widely consumed drink on Earth today, aside from water and coffee.

In Chinese mythology, tea was first discovered by Chinese Emperor Shennong (“Divine Farmer”) in 737BC, when a soft wind carried some leaves into a pot of boiling water. However, the oldest dependable evidence comes from ancient plant remains found in 2016 in Xi’an and western Tibet, showing that tea was grown at least 2,100 years ago during the Western Handy nasty when it was most likely used as medicine.

Generation after generation of tea makers experimented with different brewing (冲泡) techniques, leaves, and ceremonies, resulting in today’s tea culture full of life. There’s no doubt that China’s tea culture has become one of the most popular, diverse, and unique traditions in the world.

China is already the world’s largest tea exporter. The inclusion of the country’s traditional tea-making process on the UNESCO list will obviously generate practical benefits for tea makers in the country and across the world as more resources are given to protect and preserve such millennia-old tea culture and technical practices. As additional attention is brought to this traditional technique, the Chinese tea sector will further tap its potential and improve its growth.

As one of China’s oldest cultural practices, traditional tea processing techniques show the spirit of modesty (谦逊), peace, and comity (礼让). No matter your preference for green or dark tea, with milk or without, Chinese tea isn’t just brews. Instead, it is a bridge connecting different cultures and peoples.

1. What does the first paragraph mainly tell us?
A.Chinese tea has a fresh taste.B.Chinese tea is added with spices.
C.Chinese tea has a long history.D.Chinese tea has a rich variety.
2. When did China begin to export tea?
A.In about 737 BC.
B.Two thousand years ago.
C.During the Ming dynasty.
D.During the Western Handy nasty.
3. How does the author find about Chinese tea?
A.Hopeful.B.Objective.C.Careless.D.Disapproving.
4. What is the best tittle for the text?
A.Chinese Tea Benefits the Globe a Lot
B.Chinese Protect and Develop Its Tea Culture
C.Chinese Tea Is Included in the UNESCO List
D.China Plays a Vital Part in Cultural Diversity

7 . It can be very easy to stick with what you know, instead of trying to meet people who are different from you.     1    Here's what you can do:

Become self-aware.     2    This includes biases(偏见)about your own cultural background. It can be confronting, but by doing this you'll be able to think about how these traits might impact on your approach to and understanding of differences. You could try: Think about what assumptions you make about your friends, peers, and people you work with.

Talk to someone from a different cultural background. Try and get to know someone from a different cultural background better.     3    You'll automatically find out more about their life and experiences. Just being curious and open-minded can be helpful.

Be more accepting. Sometimes, for one reason or another, it's not all that easy to understand some cultural differences.     4     In other words, you don't have to understand, or even agree with, someone in order to accept them.

5     One of the biggest difficulties to overcome in understanding cultural differences is making judgments based on one opinion. You should do some research to actually learn about people, instead of making broad-brush assessments. Stereotyping(模式化)people from different cultural backgrounds can impact their quality of life and opportunities.

A.Do your own research.
B.Think beyond stereotypes.
C.Practice being sympathetic towards people.
D.Work out your own beliefs, values and personal biases.
E.Instead of asking them questions directly, treat them as friends.
F.And the best approach is to acknowledge people are different and to accept that's okay.
G.However, trying to understand people from other countries can help you experience more.

8 . On a warm spring morning in 1984, Dong Yao-hui and his two young friends pulled on backpacks and set out on a hike of the Great Wall. Their walk began in Shanhai Pass.     1     By sunset, they took shelter in ancient towers where soldiers once stood guard, perhaps watching for invaders from the north.

The walk of 17 months and 8,850 kilometers tested persistence.     2     The trip would not only change their lives but the fortunes of the wall itself, helping preserve it and lift it to the status it holds today.

On completing their journey, they published their experiences in a book. As they shared their adventures, it became clear that it was not just the physical demands but also the emotional impact that left lasting impressions.

3     Since then, China has made a number of measures to protect the attraction. In 2006, for instance, the State Council issued the Regulation on the Protection of Great Wall to strengthen laws concerning its preservation and regulate activities on the structure.

The Cultural Relics Administrative Department has been given control over the overall protection of the Great wall.     4

Dong places his hands on the weathered wall, as he did 35 years ago. But today, he thinks more deeply on a mission grander than his own journey. "Someone dug up some earth, making it into a brick," he says. "Someone else brought it all the way up the mountain and built a wall. Then many people guarded the wall for hundreds of years. The Great Wall is definitely alive.     5    "

A.It isn't just a cold, stone wall.
B.Preservation requires the efforts of all society.
C.From there they went forward to the vast west.
D.It wound its way and reached into the Bohai Sea.
E.It made them the first ever to walk the whole length.
F.Meanwhile, local villagers have recently been hired to act as guardians.
G.Preservation work began when the Great Wall was listed as a World Heritage Site.
