There's nothing better than flying to a foreign destination to visit the attractions it    1     (have) to offer. Millions of people are doing the same, and why not? The world has an amazing variety of must-see sights, from breathtaking natural scenery to impressive old cities. But the problem is that too many of us     2     (visit) them at the same time, putting pressure on these delicate and ancient places. That's why a number of beauty spots and historic sites have been introducing charges or restrictions on the number of tourists. There are many reasons for this: to reduce overcrowding, to manage wear and tear on old buildings and to tidy up the mess     3     (leave) behind.

On paper, Laos seems to have all to attract international tourists. It owns mighty waterfalls, golden temples and nearly two dozen national parks.

But the land-locked country welcomed only 4. 2 million visitors in 2016—a small     1    （achieve）in comparison with its southeastern Asian neighbors. The trip to Canada was so fantastic! I'd like to share with you the impressions this country left     1     me—“M-A-P-L-E".

After reaching Toronto, Li Daiyu and her cousin had a few hours to kill before    1    ( proceed )to the next leg of their trip to Montreal.    2    they went up the CN Tower to see sights. They    3    (astonish) to see misty clouds rising from the great Niagara Falls and water flowing into the Niagara River on    4    （it） way to the sea. Then at a restaurant in downtown Chinatown, they dropped in on Lin Fei, one schoolmate of Li Daiyu’s mother. She told the girls there are many Chinese people in Canada and Chinese people    5    （come） to Canada for over a hundred years.

The train left again and reached Montreal the next morning. At the station,    6    contrast to Toronto, they heard people talking in French. And they also found all the signs and    7    （advertise）were in French. Then they met a young man    8    （call）Jean-Philippe. They had a pleasant chat and Jean said the girls owed it    9    themselves to stay longer. He also told the girls Montreal is well worth visiting.

Then the train sped to the distant east coast towards Halifax. The girls dreamt    10    （happy）of the beautiful scenery of Montreal.

On our way to the house, it was raining     1     hard that we couldn't help wondering how long     2     would take to get there. It was in the middle of Pearl City.

We were first greeted with the bark by a pack of dogs, seven to be exact. They were well trained by their masters     3     had great experience with caring for these animals. Our hosts shared many of their experiences and recommended wonderful places     4     (eat), shop, and visit. For breakfast, we were able to eat the papaya(木瓜) and other fruits from their trees in the backyard.

When they were free     5     work, they invited us to local events and let us know of an interesting     6     (compete), together with the story behind it. They also shared with us many     7     (tradition) stories about Hawaii that were hugely popular with tourists. On the last day of our weeklong stay, we     8     (invite) to attend a private concert on     9     beautiful farm on the North Shore under the stars,     10     (listen) to musicians and meeting interesting locals.
