Tahmoor Gorge (峡谷)
The number and quality of swimming holes in this valley immediately take us back to some of our favourite places in Kakadu national park. The only difference here is that you don’t need a four-wheel drive, so the best way togo to the gorge is walking. This pet-friendly walk follows the Bargo River through an open gorge that gradually drops to a deep gorge. It is a popular place for locals on weekends. The further you run into the gorge, the less people there are.
Sirius Cove, Mosman
Sirius Cove is one of many quietly beautiful places along the Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach walking trail (路线). The deep, U-shaped bay, with a large grassy area, is popular with picnicking families and their dogs.
Kutti Beach, Vaucluse
We heard about it from a friend, but it is so hidden that it is not easy to find the entrance. Follow Wharf Road until it dead ends at the Vaucluse Amateur Sailing Club. Go right up to the building and look left. There is a very narrow set of stairs leading to the beach. Go down the steps and open the gate at the bottom. Follow the narrow road along the wall to the sand. The best bit? It’s dog-friendly.
MacKenzies Beach, Tamarama
From whale watching hot place MacKenzies Point, follow the sloped (斜的) road to MacKenzies Beach, a dog-friendly, short-time beach that only appears every couple of years when the right combination (结合) of wind and sand on the normal rocky reef. They say you aren’t a local until you’ve seen sand at MacKenzies.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (China)
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is part of the larger protected Wulingyuan Scenic Area in China’s Hunan province. The 3,000 towering sandstone pillars in this huge park are breathtaking. Some are more than 600 feet tall, and most have vegetation growing on their sides and summits.
The Chocolate Hills (Philippines)
There are around 1,776 hills covering a 20-square-mile area in the towns of Carmen, Batuan, and Sagbayan, each with a seemingly perfect conical shape. The hills range from 100 feet to almost 400 feet in height. The most widely accepted theory of their origin is that they consist of coral deposits (珊瑚沉积物) that were forced upward due to rainwater and erosion.
Much of the year, the hills are covered with green grass, which increases their charming appearance. However, during the dry season, the grass turns deep brown, giving them their “chocolate” tag.
Deadvlei (Namibia)
Deadvlei, also spelled Dead Vlei, is a plain surrounded by red sand dunes in the Namib Desert. The site is so unique because trees once grew there, but shifting dunes and climate change killed the vegetation over time. The air was so dry that the trees never rotted, thus becoming skeletons. But they are not scary. These rare trees are estimated to be around 900 years old. The combination of tall red dunes, bright clay flats, and tree skeletons combine to create a fantastic atmosphere that inspires tourists to visit.
Lake Hillier (Australia)
Lake Hillier sits on Middle Island off the coast of Western Australia. Hillier is a small lake, less than 2,000 feet in length, but it grabs people’s attention because of its incredible bright pink color. It is especially noticeable because it contrasts with the neighboring blue ocean and the surrounding green leaves.
Why the lake is pink is not 100% clear, but the theory is that it’s caused by the interaction between the salty water and a specific type of micro algae (微藻类) that grows well under these specific conditions.

The Zhagana village in Gannan Tibetan autonomous prefecture, Gansu province, was recently named Best Tourism Village of 2023 by the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
Zhagana, which means “stone box” in the Tibetan language, is located at an altitude of 3,000 to 3,300 meters and is surrounded by mountains, with the highest peak reaching 4,500 meters. The steep mountains and Tibetan-style houses constitute a “grand stone palace” or an ancient city constructed by natural rock walls.

Xiajiang village, located in East China’s Zhejiang province, has earned a prestigious spot on the UNWTO’s list of “Best Tourism Villages.” This idyllic village is renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty and a profound cultural heritage that spans from traditional folk culture to historical “red culture”.
Huangling village
As a mountain dwelling village in Wuyuan county of East China’s Jiangxi province, Huangling has transformed from a poverty-stricken village into a rural tourism hot spot.
The village, rated as a national AAAA scenic spot (the second highest level for tourist attractions in China), draws worldwide visitors throughout the year to view its picturesque landscape.
Zhujiawan village
Zhujiawan village, situated in Zhashui county, Shangluo city, covers a sprawling area of 126 square kilometers and boasts an abundance of over 1,200 species of diverse animals and plant resources.
