4 . Recently, a new kind of tourism has sprung up in China. Called “special forces style tourism”, this new kind of tourism features visiting as many scenic interests as possible in a short time and most of these visitors are college students.

A common student from Shanghai, Yu Yinghua, is one of them. The 22-year-old started the “special forces style tourism” in March after she was attracted by such experiences of Xiaohongshu travel bloggers. “Stuck in the school for almost three years due to the COVID-19, I’m hungry to take trips in my spare time,” said Yu.

“Making a plan carefully before hand is important,” Yu said. She added that as she selected every destination in the city, she was able to find a lot of information and learn more about these sites. That would help her save time when traveling on-site and enjoy the sites better. Her most recent trip was to Shanghai. Starting at 7 am, the 22-year-old visited nine local attractions. “That day, I walked almost 30,000 steps,” Yu said, “Though tired, I enjoyed the trip as much as days-long trips. It still lets me have a better understanding of the cities I go to.”

Unlike Yu who traveled in nearby cities, Chen Junjun, a doctoral student at Shanghai Advanced Research Institute, CAS, likes to travel far to free herself of academic stress. In April, the 24-year-old took a two-day trip to Xi’an, Shaanxi. During her trip, she visited all the scenic sites in the city. “With many academic responsibilities, such a trip can bring a splash of color to my stressful life!” said Chen.

Even so, the 24-year-old added that such tourism is not suitable for everyone. Chen said that it’s labor-consuming as visitors have to see so many sites in a short period. Such trips are not flexible as days-long trips in which you can change your plan as you like. “Thus, abundant energy and a calm mind are necessary for ‘special forces style tourism’,” said Chen.

1. Which statement about Yu’s trips is TRUE?
A.She likes to travel to faraway cities.
B.Her trips were limited due to the pandemic.
C.Having a careful plan in advance is not necessary.
D.Walking 30,000 steps a day is too much for her to finish.
2. What do we know about Chen Junjun’s opinion of “special forces style tourism”?
A.It is more flexible than days-long trip.
B.It needs better physical and mental conditions.
C.It allows people to be under pressure of academy.
D.She encourages everyone to follow “special forces style tourism”.
3. What does “labor-consuming” mean in the fifth paragraph?
A.InspiringB.Creative.C.PleasantD.Tiring.
4. Which section of a newspaper can we find this passage?
A.Sports.B.Food.C.Society.D.Science.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了智利的旅游景点“沙漠之掌”,包括它的位置、建造背景、象征意义以及前往参观的建议。

10 .

Chile (智利) is famous for its many attractions, including Torres del Paine National Park and Easter Island . If you’re planning a visit, be sure to add “Mano del Desierto” or “Hand of the Desert”to your must-see list.

Standing 11 meters tall and made of iron and cement (混凝土), this sculpture (雕像) of a hand emerges (出现) from the sand in the Atacama Desert , which is known as the driest desert in the world outside of polar regions. The sculpture was created by Mario Irarr á zabal in the early 1980s and was financed by a local nonprofit organization called Corporaci ó n Pro Antofagasta. The sculpture is not only famous for its size and design but also for the message it expresses. Many people believe that the hand represents the weakness and helplessness of human beings, as well as their strength and determination to overcome hardships.

If you’re interested in visiting the Hand of the Desert, take Route 26 or 28 from Antofagasta, a port city in northern Chile. The sculpture is located between mile markers 1309 and 1310. The desert’s flatness (平坦) makes it easy to spot the sculpture from far away. But some people mistake it for a mirage (海市蜃楼) caused by tiredness from driving a long way to the sculpture.

Visitors should take precautions (预防措施) before leaving , such as filling their gas tanks , taking plenty of water, and wearing sunscreen. They should also avoid driving too quickly, as many car accidents happen in the desert each year.

For those who are worried about driving alone, working with an agency (机构) like Plan South America is a good option. The founder of the agency, Harry Hastings, said that he always tries to join a visit to the sculpture with guests traveling to the desert.

1. What makes the Hand of the Desert a famous attraction?
A.Its material.B.Its location.C.Its designer.D.Its size and design.
2. What can we infer from the third paragraph?
A.The sculpture attracts millions of visitors every year.
B.Tired travelers often see mirages in the desert.
C.The sculpture can be reached very easily.
D.The sculpture can be seen from far away.
3. What can we know about Harry Hastings from the passage?
A.He built the sculpture “Hand of the Desert”.
B.He gave the financial support to the sculpture.
C.His agency can help lonely travelers travel to the desert.
D.He can avoid driving accidents in the desert.
4. Which column does this passage belong to in a newspaper?
