The Internet has the power to connect people across the world to a single shared community. We can gain almost anything online — with access to the Internet come some     1     (true) life-changing advantages. When you are surfing the Internet, you can be anyone or anything. Avatars are a key part while people use the Internet to communicate. and express themselves. Nowadays, avatars are everywhere and people can choose an avatar from a selection of images     3    (make) by others or create their own ones. Most people create avatars that have similar features to their personalities and that look more or less like them. Others believe the Internet can help develop friendships in many ways. Firstly, the Internet makes communication much     7    (convenient). Secondly, the Internet has also made communication more fun. You can share photos, videos, news stories, and websites     8     your friends online. Thirdly, online communication can actually bring people closer to each other. Whenever someone needs help, friends from all over the world can     9     (immediate) provide useful suggestions or information. Finally, I believe the Internet brings people closer together and makes communication with friends more convenient and     10     (interest).

Today I went to a conference,     1     two students had a debate about the strengths and weaknesses of the Internet.

The first speaker talked about the positive     2     (affect) of the Internet on our lives. The first is its value for people who     3     (look) for information now. For example, with the touch of a button or the click of a mouse, a student will find enough information     4     his or her command. The second is our ability     5     (relate) to others through the Internet and it is especially important for disabled people     6     can’t leave their homes. The     7     (two) speaker talked about the negative effects of the Internet on our lives. For example, some experts think that the outcome of spending too much time on the Internet has difficulty in     8     (form) social bonds. They were also quite explicit (明确的) about how heavy Internet users spend     9     (much) time with their Internet friends than their real-life friends from school and work.

Both sides presented lots of statistics to support their arguments. My own judgment is that though the Internet is beneficial, we should use our     10    (intelligent) and not be a slave to it!

With the development of modern technology, people can stay     1     (connect) with their families and friends easily, however far apart they are from each other. WeChat is one of the most     2     (frequent) used means of communication in China. It is reported that the number of the WeChat users     3     (reach) over 1.1 billion so far.

Once joining the WeChat, people can find more and more people start to add them     4     friends. They don’t have to consider time     5     (zone) when communicating. Another reason why it is so popular is that it costs nothing. It’s also very convenient for people to immediately update     6     they are doing by WeChat.

However, addiction to WeChat will rob people of the time that should otherwise     7     (spend) on something more important. And the many so-called friends on it are not really friends at all, who simply want     8     (put) ads or sell items on Moments. Besides, people on the WeChat are more likely to compare     9     (they) with others, which will make them feel bad when finding some people seem to be     10     (success).
