文章大意:本文是一篇应用文。文章介绍了四个学生对人工智能的看法。

1 . What is the future of AI (人工智能)? Will it be a good thing? We asked four students what they think.

Liu Lei

I think AI will be more useful in our future lives. It’s now used in many fields, like phones and medicine. No one really knows what will happen if machines become smarter than humans. However, I’m sure AI will help us solve many problems.

Xu Lu

I’m worried that people create something that can be better than themselves. In the near future, AI will develop at a high speed. Humans may be replaced (取代) because AI robots will do a lot of work instead of people.

Zhao Mingming

I really think that Al will change the way we work, the way we live, and the way we think. Imagine if we could put a CPU into our brains! Soon we’ll be able to improve our math and memory. How exciting!

Molly

Think of what’s happening now. Some robots are used to kill animals. So I think AI will be very dangerous for humans, too. We need to be careful about what we ask machines to do.
1. Why does Xu Lu think that humans may be replaced?
A.Because humans are smarter than AI.

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章介绍的是Mars mission and colony设计的展览。

7 . Step into Moving to Mars, an exhibition of the Mars mission and colony design at London’s Design Museum, and immediately you have good reasons for not moving there.

Frightening glowing wall-texts announce that Mars wasn’t made for you, that there is no life and little precious water, that, dressed in a spacesuit, you will never touch, taste or smell the planet you now call “home”. As Lisa Grossman wrote for New Scientist a couple of years ago, “What’s different about Mars is that there is nothing to do there except try not to die.”

It is an odd beginning for such a celebratory exhibition, but it provides a valuable, dark background against which the rest of the show can sparkle(闪耀)—a show that is, as its chief manager Justin remarks, “not about Mars; this is an exhibition about people.”

Moving along, there is a quick yet clear flash through what the science-fiction writer Robinson calls “the history of Mars in the human mind”. A Babylonian clay tablet and a Greek vase speak to early ideas about the planet. A poster for the original Total Recall film reminds us of Mars’ psychological threat.

The main part of the show is our current plans for the Red Planet. There are real spacesuits and models of 3D-printed Martian settlements and suitable clothing and furniture. Mission architectures and engineering sketches line the walls. Real hammers meant for the International Space Station are wall-mounted beside a low-gravity table that has yet to leave, and may indeed never leave, Earth.

This, of course, is the great strength of approaching science through design: reality and assumptions can be given equal visual weight, drawing us into an informed conversation about what it is that we actually want from a future on Mars.

1. What is the text mainly about?
A.How to move to Mars.
B.How to survive on Mars.
C.What preparations we made for Mars.
D.What the exhibition of Mars truly tells us.
2. What can we learn from Lisa Grossman?
A.It’s impossible to live on Mars.
B.It’s no good settling on Mars.
C.You have nothing to do living on Mars.
D.You can live on Mars in your spacesuit.
3. What does the exhibition focus on?
A.The current plans for Mars.
B.The advantages of living on Mars.
C.The early ideas about Mars.
D.The history of Mars in the human mind.
4. What does the author want to tell us in the last paragraph?
A.An experience.B.An opinion.
C.A fantasy.D.A solution.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文。文章描绘了未来2050年人们的生活。

8 . We don’t know how different our future will be in the future. We can only try to imagine it.

At first we think about human relationship. In the year 2050, we will use computers almost every day. We will be making new friends through the Internet—even our husbands or wives will be met in this way. It will be much faster and easier for us. On the other hand, our relationships with people won’t be as important as they are today—we will feel a little lonely.

Computers will also help us in many other activities in 2050. For example, they will be used by the children at school to make their learning easier. In addition, there will be much more other machines which will play a similar role as computers, like robots which will do the housework for us.

Spending holidays will also be completely different.Traveling to other planets or to the moon will be available for everyone. Means of transport will, of course, change, too. We will be using solar-powered cars, which will be much more environmentally friendly.

We could expect that the faster technological progress would lead to a more polluted environment. But it isn’t true. We will pay more attention to protecting the environment. And, scientists will probably find cures for many dangerous diseases, like cancer or AIDS. Therefore, our surroundings as well as health will be in better condition.

Although we can’t predict the exact changes which will be made in the world, we often think about them. We worry about our and our children’s future; we have expectations, hopes as well as fears. But I think we should be rather sanguine about our future. We should be happy and believe good things will happen.

1. Why will people probably feel a little lonely in 2050?
A.Because the number of people will become much smaller.
B.Because there will be less face-to-face communication.
C.Because people won’t like making friends with each other.
D.Because people won’t communicate with each other much often.
2. The third paragraph mainly tells us        .
A.that computers will do all the things for human beings
B.how people will use computers to communicate with each other
C.that machines like computers and robots will help people a lot
D.how people will use robots to do the housework
3. According to the passage, which of the following will happen in 2050?
A.The relationship between people will be more important than that of today.
B.The way of spending holidays will be the same as that of today.
C.It won’t be difficult for people to travel to other planets.
D.Our environment will be much more polluted with a growing number of cars.
4. The underlined word “sanguine” in the last paragraph most probably means “        ”.
A.disappointedB.surprised
C.curiousD.optimistic

I have loved     1     (watch) films since I was a child.     2     (go) to the local cinema with my parents was a pleasant memory.
