But it is not________ for individuals to change. We need governments to change. We need industry to change. We need big changes if we want to prevent global warming ________ destroying our planet.

One third of our global carbon emissions---35 percent---comes from_____ electricity. As a result, we need government and industry to work together to lower these ________, more importantly, to develop new, cleaner technology to heat our homes,________ our factories, and to keep lights ________.

8 . Children need to be prepared for an earthquake as much as adults, if not more. For babies and children, special________should be paid to making their________as safe as possible. Their beds should be placed away from________and tall, unsteady bookcases and shelves that could________down.

At the very least a 72-hour________of extra water, bottles, food, juices, clothing, plenty of diapers（尿布）, baby wipes and ready medicines should be________where it is most likely to get________an earthquake. Also keep an extra diaper bag with these things in your car. 9 . Growing up in Melbourne, Australia, I was one of those naughty little kids that never, ever stopped asking "Why?”. I used to ask my mum the most __ questions. As a "why" kid, I thought everything __ can be changed and I could make the world better.

When I was in my high school, I __ the chance to go to the Philippines to learn more due to my good ___at school. It was there that I became friends with Sonny, who lived on "Smoky Mountain". That's __, a few years later, I joined with a group of college friends in bringing the Make Poverty History campaign to Australia. Over all these years, I've tried to reconnect with Sonny. __, I've been unable to. Fireworks are beautiful and we all enjoy appreciating them. But let’s stop and think about the price that we_______for just a few minutes of_______

To begin with, the amount of money we spend on fireworks is_______ The excitement is gone_______ Let’s face it, what we really are doing is burning_______ Yet, year after year, thousands of cities and towns spend our tax dollars on fireworks displays. __________ all the safety warnings, we still see injuries and deaths as a result of fireworks. Approximately 10,000 Americans are injured every year by fireworks.

In my view, all consumer fireworks should be__________ Public fireworks displays should be kept to a minimum and should be paid for through volunteer funding, not tax dollars. Finally, those people in__________of fireworks displays should be responsible for cleaning up the mess they make.
