1 . Many dishes make up the world of Garifuna food, but hudutu is probably its signature (明显的特色). The dish is closest to Yolanda Castillo’s heart.
The head chef of Chicago’s Garifuna Flava, Castillo developed a love for food earlier. It was in her native country of Belize that she learned the secrets of making hudutu. “My mom showed me the traditional way of cooking our Garifuna food.” she says.
After moving to Chicago with her husband, Castillo stayed true to her roots, gathering family members for grand meals. Not a single visit happened without someone praising Castillo’s ability to copy her mother’s traditional Garifuna recipes.
“My husband would always say, ‘One day, I’m going to open a restaurant for her.’” Castillo says. In 2008, the couple’s restaurant, Garifuna Flava, opened its doors in Chicago. In addition to Garifuna food, Garifuna Flava serves up Belizean food like rice and beans. “It’s amazing to see how many people from around the world have been here to taste our Garifuna food.” she says.
“Garifuna food, in particular, tells us a Caribbean story and a Central American story,” says López Oro, whose work focuses on later generations of Garifuna immigrants.(移民) “It gives us an opportunity to really think about the generational history of Garifuna migration.”
Though hudutu requires much work, Castillo uses a food processor to speed things up. The more hudutu she’s able to make, the more she’s able to sell—increasing the possibility of introducing the food to a wider, ever-hungry audience.
“I think people are really devoted to making hudutu a household name,” says López Oro, referring to the dish and the urgency many Garinagu feel about protecting their history, in part, through their food’s most famous dish.

7 . Set 40 kilometers northeast of the city of Ambatondrazaka, Madagascar, the Zahamena National Park has overall land coverage of 643 square kilometers, but only about 420 square kilometers is open to the public. It receives an average rainfall level of around 6 feet every year and experiences frequent rain showers even during the dry season between April and October. And elevations (海拔) inside the park range from 250 to 1,560 meters, which has resulted in a diversity (多样性) of climates.
One really interesting thing about the Zahamena National Park is its unique highland landform (高地地貌). The development of several ecosystems that all together exist within its area greatly depends on it. And this is also the reason why the types of wildlife living in one area of its wide range are different in another, which makes it quite exciting to explore.
This protected region’s main area is divided into two parts: the eastern and western areas, with a separate piece of ground in the middle where many small villages are located. Zahamena means “red trees”, which suggests a tree species scientifically called Diatum unifoliatum. It lives only in Zahamena and is characterized by its typically deep reddish-orange color.
Established as a strict natural highland habitat for nature conservation (保护) in 1927, the Zahamena National Park was officially awarded the honorary title of national park in 1997 and was finally opened to the public. Due to its amazing landform and unique local biodiversity, this national park was later listed as a key part of the Rainforests of the Atsinanana in 2007.
Unluckily, there are no hotels or restaurants around the national park. So Zahamena is not an easy rainforest—this national park needs people with a high level of fitness and people with low requirements concerning accommodations. Everyone who is not discouraged by this will be able to expect an amazing rainforest experience in a location which has a small number of tourists.

10 . Are you an “I person” or an “E person”? These two personality labels in particular are widely discussed online. They are part of a popular personality test called the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI. All of the results have four letters, and there are 16 results in total. “I” and “E” refer to “introverted” and “extroverted”, respectively.
Even if someone is typically quiet, many online discussions suggest that an “I” person can still be outgoing at times. For example, when an introverted person is with a group of introverted friends, they might become more social like an “E” person.
According to psychologists, this idea of temporarily switching personalities is called “masking”. That is hiding your true personality in specific situations. “Human beings want to feel they belong, and they might become people-pleasers to do so,” wrote the Master Class website.
Using the MBTI result to identify and describe someone’s personality seems fun. However, I went too far at one time. My sister was excitedly making a day-to-day travel plan when I remembered from an article that “P people” don’t like to make or stick to plans, so I said to her, “You don’t seem like a ‘P person’.” “Why?” She asked back. “Since when do I need to follow what my personality test tells me to do?” It was then that I realized I’d taken the result too seriously.
The MBTI personality test may show something you don’t know about yourself and can even be a fun ice-breaker question when meeting new friends. And that’s all it is —for fun. On the other hand, knowing someone’s MBTI result doesn’t mean you really know this person. And those four letters of yours don’t define who you are.
1. In which of the following situations an “I” person may perform more sociably?A.Having a conversation with an “E” person. |
