1 . Tracks Through Time: Four Stunning UK Train Journeys
The United Kingdom is rightly celebrated as the birthplace of the railway. And there’s no better way to see it than sitting by the window in a train.
Glasgow to Mallaig
Considered by some to be the most scenic railway line in the world, this line takes passengers from the bustling city of Glasgow through Scotland’s wild western highlands to the remote port of Mallaig. Immerse yourself in unforgettable scenery on this journey, and don’t forget to look out for Ben Nevis!
The Caledonian Sleeper
Passengers can enjoy falling asleep to the rhythm of the train on leaving London, then waking up to the serene beauty of the Highlands at dawn right outside your window. Take a trip back in time with all the modern amenities you could want with this iconic train journey!
The Cambrian Line
Wales, with its dramatic landscapes, historic sites and inspiring vistas, offers some magical train journeys to be found in the UK. And perhaps the jewel in the Welsh crown is the Cambrian Line, which weaves its way through Mid Wales to the coast. The route begins in Shrewsbury in England and is famed for its scenery.
The Settle-Carlisle Line
No article on iconic United Kingdom train journeys would be complete without this incredible train line. Opened in 1876, the 73-mile long route takes the traveller from Settle Junction in North Yorkshire to Carlisle in Cumbria. Threatened with closure in the 1980s, the line was saved thanks to the efforts of rail lovers, and passenger numbers have gone from strength to strength.

It explains that some anxiety (for example, a dinosaur’s anxiety about being eaten) can be our body’s way of protecting us from threats.
Sea Otter Cove by Lori Lite
This is a book that teaches children how to use proper breathing techniques to calm down, lower stress, and control anger. Through playful sea otters and other delightful characters in the book, children get to experience belly breathing. This effective, self-calming technique is also known as diaphragmatic breathing or deep breathing.

Double up. Consider multipurpose for every piece of furniture. Buying a coffee table? Get one with storage drawers beneath, or use a large basket topped with a pretty serving tray instead. If you need a bench, choose one that includes under-seat storage for, say, some magazines.
Get high. Always consider vertical (32H J) space. Shelves high on walls can store books, photo albums or holiday decorations. Hanging hooks for pots and pans can give you back whole kitchen cabinets, and hooks on walls provide a spot for jackets, belts or keys. Shadow boxes on bathroom walls can house pretty perfume bottles, lotions and toiletries.
Sink a basket. Baskets can help organize every area of your home. You can toss hardware tools, all the kids’ toys or several pairs of sandals in large baskets. Stick small containers in kitchen drawers to keep pens, rubber bands, stickers and magnifying glass organized.
Top drawer. A set of drawers beneath stairs can make use of otherwise-wasted floor space especially for articles not, so often used. DIY Life offers instructions for three ways of adding under-stair storage. Get them at naturalhomeand garden.com/smart-storage.

5 . I was picking through coat pockets and madly shaking all my old purses and wallets. I was looking for pennies, quarters — anything that would help me make it to the end of the week. It sure was feeling heavy.
A hopeless girl in her twenties,I was a single parent, with a one-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter.
Life consisted of ups and downs. One year, I was having baby showers and taking vacations in the mountains of Tennessee. The next, I was searching around my small, two-bedroom apartment collecting loose change to buy food and gas. Suddenly, I found myself becoming poor, and it was hard.
I’ll never forget the joy of finding one penny during my hunt, then two, then fifteen, and then twenty-four, twenty-five, twenty-six. Every time I found one, I felt excited. Looking back now, I see that it was somewhat ironic (讽刺的) because I had looked down on pennies at one point in my life.
I sat in my bedroom that night and sorted all the change from my hour-long quest. I smiled and made jokes with my daughter while we packed our pennies. Her brother joyfully bounced up and down in his bouncer. They had no idea how many nights I would cry with my face buried in the pillows, wondering how I would keep a roof over their heads, lights on in the house, and food on the table.
I remember those days like they were yesterday, but I don’t remember them with sadness. I remember them intentionally because I promised myself that if I were ever to escape the pains of poverty, I would never forget the value of a penny.
I’ve kept that promise, too.

8 . Having a pet can be a magical moment for a lot of people. Welcoming a new furry guest in your life conveys a feeling of bliss unmatched by anything else. Unfortunately, many new pet owners can take a while to adjust with their pets and struggle to bond with them.
This goes without saying but spending time with your pets can greatly help you band with them. Cats, dogs, and other animals love to be included in the activities of their humans. Whether it is going on errands or just chilling at home watching a movie, make sure your furry friends are with you and enjoying themselves.
Another thing to keep in mind is that playtime between an owner and their pets is the best way to bond and share wonderful moments together. It is important to know what type of play your pet enjoys. 6 Just like each individual is different, animals are different from each other too.
A.In time, you’ll be inseparable. |

9 . The pursuit of happiness comes with the pursuit of a longer life. This can simply take place with some benefiting life changes like changing your diet. Limiting the intake of processed foods and red meat to be replaced by healthier choices like fruits and vegetables has been the way to go.
Eliminate Sugar
Start this journey by removing sugar from your daily diet. According to Dina Aronson, a dietician, this step is said to be centred on dietary analysis and health behaviour change.
Eat what you love
It is no news that eating fruits and vegetables are good for a healthy diet although they are not the most favourite. But for one to groom a healthy way of eating, you need to enjoy eating these healthy options.
Know what you eat
That occasional nibble (一小口) that we have learned to do is a killer when trying to eat right. This is done often without being aware of what we throw into our mouths. Awareness of what we eat becomes the top priority as the first step to eating right. Do not be in a hurry to be perfect but start small and this leads to healthy eating.
Meat Free
Another step that may be hard is to gradually go for plant based options or foods that are rich in grains. Whole grains help to increase the blood sugar in slow paces, thereby giving the brain the needed energy to make the day and controlling late-night eating.
1. What helps prolong your life according to the text?A.Taking in processed foods. |
