When you were young, you see some of your relatives die young because of lacking good medical resources. The idea of become a good doctor or helping more people in poor areas rooted (根植于) in your heart at that time.

I know it’s hardly being a medical major student. While seeing the smile face of your patients, you definitely will be satisfying. Try your best to save the more people! I am working hard for our dream right now and looking forward Ʌ meeting you in the future.

During the winter holiday, I volunteered at a nursing home to help look after the old people there. This experience allowed me    1     (have) a better understanding of the need to care for the elderly.

In the morning, I walked into the nursing home with a smile as bright    2     sunshine. I said hello to everyone. Then I    3     (join) the rest of the volunteers as they did their work.We cleaned tables    4    mopped the floor. We wanted to make the nursing home neat and     5     (comfort) to live in.

After     6     (clean), some of us gave the elderly haircuts, chatted with them, or cooked food for     7     (they) in the kitchen. I was busy putting up Spring Festival couplets (对联) .Seeing the elderly smiling, I felt a sense of joy deep in my heart. At the end of the day, everyone got together and sang the beautiful song Grateful Heart.

Respecting and loving the elderly is    8     traditional virtue (美德) . I think the only things the elderly    9     (real) need are company (陪伴) and love. By giving them love, we can also feel the kind of joy    10    can only be gained by giving.

4 . A heartwarming letter written by Yuan Longping, known as “the father of hybrid rice”, has caught people’s eyes as the nation is mourning (悼念) over his passing away. In 2010, at the age 80, Yuan wrote this letter in memory of his late mother, Hua Jing, and many are deeply touched by its sincerity (真情).

In the letter, entitled“The Rice is Ripe (成熟), Mom”, Yuan recalled the old days with his mother in Anjiang town in Central China’s Hunan province, where his mother was buried in 1989.

Born in a wealthy family in Yangzhou, eastern China’s Jiangsu province, Hua Jing was well educated and open-minded. She taught Yuan English when he was very young. Having never worked in the fields, Hua moved to Anjiang town to support her son’s family and research.

“Mom, the rice is ripe and I come back to Anjiang to see you... Every time when I was able to deliver a speech to the audiences from around the world or take a prize in my study, I always thought of you. You made me who I am. People say I’ve changed the world with one tiny rice seed but mom, I know you sowed (播种) the seed in me when I was a little boy.”

5 . This is really a very fast game, the fastest I have seen so far this year. Both sides are fighting for the ball all the time. The crowd is loving every minute of it. They are shouting at the top of their voices.

Willis has the ball now. This is only his third game for Scotland, but he’s playing so well that it won’t be his last, I’m quite sure.

Willis passes the ball to Cotton. Cotton kicks it over the heads of the waiting Frenchmen, towards the goalmouth , but he’s too far away. Dupond picks it up easily, and throws it to Patou, out on the left.

France and Scotland still have one goal each, and there are only two minutes left of the game. But during that time, anything can happen. Patou kicks the ball across to Crozat. It’s. a beautiful kick, but Steven jumps and just stops the ball with the side of his head. But Meunier is there, he passes to Crozat, and Crozat, without waiting a second, puts the ball into the back of the goal. It takes everybody by surprise. I’ve never seen a goal like it.

It is a play written by Botho Strauss and directed by Laurence Strangio, featuring (由……主演) second-year Performing Arts students. It is about a lonely woman living in a big city. From the play, we can learn how to get along well with our friends, our family, our lovers, and with ourselves.

Love Play

It is written by Moira Buffini and directed by Trent Baker, featuring Performing First-year Arts students. It follows a series of unexpected meetings that have taken place in the same place in London across 2,000 years, through the centuries from the Romans to the Elizabethans to the present day. Love Play is a comedy that challenges the reasons and ways we want love.

Smashed

It is a play written by Lally Katz and directed by Suzanne Chaundy, featuring second-year Performing Arts students. Smashed is about friendship, time travel and death. Writing for the age, Helen Thomson calls the play “a wonderful memory of childhood on the edge (边缘) of adulthood.” Smashed thinks well of invention, imagination and girl power.
