3 . As a middle schooler, one of my life goals was the Presidential Fitness Award-an honor given to those who passed a series of gin-class tests that included doing a number of pull ups, running a mile, and, among other things, the sit and reach(another version of toe touching). That's where things went wrong for me. I could never reach quite far enough.

Toe touching is an easy way to begin or end any sort of workout, For most people, it is among the easiest stretching exercises to do. But for me(and any of my classmate)it's complete suffering. Why? “The two biggest factors are the flexibility of your hamstrings(腿筋) and the range of motion of your hip(髋) joints,” says Jeffrey Jenkins, a physiologist at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. “But another big factor is the relative length of your arms and your torso(躯干) to your legs, which unfortunately can't be changed.”

Ienkins says that although there are sore unjust aspects, overall the toe touch is not the worst measure of flexibility. But if you are flexibility clumsy like me, there are some things you can do to improve the flexibility of the body you have. Whenever you stretch then, your muscles contract, tighten, and resist the force to be stretched, resulting in that annoyingly painful feeling that most of us get when we first reach down to touch our toes or attempt to stretch other muscles. However, Jenkins says, if you are patient, this too shall pass.

If you hold the stretch for a minimum of six seconds, you can actually overcome the re flex (反射). In fact, Jenkins says, there's some evidence that holding still stretches for 30 seconds results in greater improvement in flexibility than holding it for 15 seconds, and just as much improvement as 60 seconds. But for some people, the pain that accompanies those sixty seconds is just too severe. If you can get past that pain, then you can probably improve your flexibility However, Jenkins cautions against tolerating too much pain; you could be tearing a muscle.

1. What can be inferred about the author from the text?
A.He is a P. E. Teacher in a junior school.
B.He improved a version of toe touching.
C.He can't pass the tests of the Presidential Fitness Award.
D.He was envied by his classmate for his academical achievements,

A.How we can practice touching toes,
B.Why some people can't touch their toes.
C.What is the most important to an athlete.
D.Why people begin and end exercises by touching toes.
3. What does the underlined word “this” in paragraph 3 refer to?
A.Muscle pain.B.Clumsy moves.
C.Body flexibility.D.Attempt to stretch.
4. When we practice toe touching, Jeukins warn us ________.
A.to seek professional help
B.not to stand the severe pain beyond limit
C.to hold the still stretch for at least 15 seconds
D.not to quit at focus on the pain from the muscles

4 . Stefani Shamrowicz lives in Colorado. The 24-year-old woman has spent 23 days picking up126 bags of rubbish across the country

Having over a month off from her job at a campus recreation center, Stefani Shamrowicz decided to take a trip to help clean up the environment.

She's now driven over 70 hours through Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana Florida,Georgia,Tennessee,Kentucky,Ohio,Pennsylvania, and New York-cleaning up everything from pee-filled bottles to lawn ornaments. About 80 percent of the rubbish was drinking bottles. Stefani said she had found a few fast-food toys and a tire with a pair of cowboy boots in it and her aim wasn't to shame, but rather encourage people to do what they can

Collecting anywhere from one to 16 bags at a time, Stefani's been discouraged. She felt she wasn't doing enough. She said there was a place that had an ocean of rubbish and she pushed out four bags, but then she broke down because she realized how much rubbish there was and it felt like four bags didn't do anything. But she remembered to just do what she could, especially since she had gone beyond her goal. She said she dedicated that to her parents because they raised her to be an independent person and had been very supportive on the trip

People donated $10 a bag for Stefani to clean up in their name, which she uses for lodging and gas. The person's name is written on how many bags they've donated towards and Stefani posted a picture on her Instagram when they were filed, thanking them for helping clean up the cit she was in.

People online and in person have responded positively to the project. Stefani recalled people sent her pictures of bags of trash they picked up. Once, when she started doing a bag on the beach in Florida, two ladies saw her and started helping her fill the bag.

With her job resuming June 1, Stefani is now back home but she has so many good things to say about her unique U.S.road trip. There's litter everywhere, so I'm just happy to be able to make a little bit of an impact everywhere I go. Before the holiday, I thought about doing something meaningfully. Suddenly, I remembered that there was a lot of primary school students putting up small shops and sell red bags on the street last Spring Festival. Wanting to have a try, so I begged my father to support him. He bought some lovely red bags and small toy. For the first time in my life I begin to sell things at the gate of the park. This experience of selling taught me the secret of communicating strangers, and I understood what hard it is for my parents to make money.

6 . China has successfully landed its rover on Mars, becoming the second country in history to have a rover on the red planet.

The rover, Zhurong, named after a god of fire in Chinese mythology, landed Saturday morning at the pre-selected area in Utopia Planitia on Mars. The six-wheel solar-powered Zhurong rover weighs about 240 kilograms (529 pounds) and carries six scientific instruments. It will be later released from the lander for a three-month mission in search of life on Mars' surface.

Tianwen-1, whose name means “Quest for Heavenly Truth,” will relay its signal to the rover during its mission and then conduct a global survey of the planet for one Martian year. It hopes to gather important information about the Martian soil, geological structure, environment and atmosphere, and to search for signs of water. The probe has spent three months in orbit scanning the landing area before releasing the rover to the surface, and sent back its first photo of the planet from more than a million kilometers (621,371 miles) away.

Tianwen-1 was launched by a Long March 5 rocket from the Wenchang space launch center in Hainan on July 23 last year, and spent seven months on the way to Mars before entering its orbit in February. “The probe is going to orbit, land and release a rover all on the very first try, and cooperate with an orbiter in observation,” the scientific team behind Tianwen-1 said before the rover's landing. “No planetary missions have ever been implemented in this way”.

Tianwen-1 is one of three international Mars missions launched last summer due to an alignment between Earth and Mars on the same side of the sun, making for a more efficient journey to the red planet. Unlike the US and China missions, the UAE probe is not intended to land on Mars---just study the planet from orbit.

1. What does paragraph 2 mainly tell us about Zhurong?
A.It is a god of fire in modern times.B.It is in position for exploration on Mars.
C.It is only 240 kg in total weight.D.It is powered by strong winds.
2. What does the team say about the on-going mission?
A.Tianwen-1 has been orbiting Mars.B.Tianwen -l is working with an orbiter.
C.Tianwen-1 has made a history in missions.D.Tianwen-1 has released the rover Zhurong.
3. What can we say about Tianwen-l according to the text?
A.It is likely to find the signs of water on Mars.
B.It will spend seven months on the survey of Mars.
C.It has sent back the information about the Martian soil.
D.It is a bridge between the control centre and the rover Zhurong.
4. What can be inferred about the Mars missions launched last summer?
A.They will finish the same tasks on Mars.
B.The UAE probe will simply circle around Mars.
C.They made the journey to Mars in a relatively shorter time.
D.The mission of Tianwen-l doesn't include that of the UAE probe.
