文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了现在人们容易对健身追踪器上瘾,并建议人们戒除对这些健身追踪器的上瘾。

3 . Smartwatches and fitness trackers (健身追踪器) have gained popularity recently. These tools can record your daily steps, heart rates, etc.     1    . If yes, it might be a sign that you’re addicted to your fitness tracker.

2    . If you keep setting unrealistic daily goals that involve working out for too long, and if you begin to ignore friends and responsibilities to make time for your workout, then you’re most probably addicted to your fitness tracker.

It’s a struggle to overcome the addiction to fitness trackers.     3    . For example, the number in your smart watch showing how far you’ve come can give you a sense of achievement.

Of course, failing to meet your daily goal can be discouraging. You might focus on your shortcoming rather than your progress. Another problem is that you might find yourself paying too much attention to the step number rather than how your body feels.     4    .

Therefore, if you’re spending too much time looking at your smartwatch, limit your daily step count to a comfortable level.     5    . For example, concentrating on your hobbies or socializing with friends can be a great way to keep your mind on other things.

A.How can you tell whether you’re addicted to your fitness tracker?
B.Actually this addiction to step count can be risky, mentally and physically.
C.Don’t overuse your smartwatch.
D.However, do you find yourself checking your steps and heart rates too often?
E.After all, reaching a daily step count can be so appealing.
F.Besides, you can find other things to do that don’t involve checking your fitness tracker.
G.It doesn’t covey what you’re really feeling.

5 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

It was in the afternoon before the end of the Second World War that Antonio Black, who was twelve, caught sight of a beautiful brooch (胸针) in a shop window. The brooch is so beautiful that he was unwilling to leave the store until he had purchased it. But it was too expensive — $5. His family was very poor and his parents struggled to make ends meet. Five dollars would buy almost a week’s food for his family.

Antonio couldn’t ask his father for the money. Everything his father made through fishing went to his mother, Susan. Slim and beautiful, his mother was the center of the home and the glue that held it together. The housework was never-ending, and she struggled to feed and clothe their five children, but she was happy as her family and their well-being were all she cared about.

Nevertheless, he opened the shop’s door and went inside. Standing proudly and straight in his flour-sack (面粉袋改做的) shirt and washed-out trousers, he told the shopkeeper what he wanted, adding, “But I don’t have the money right now. Can you please hold it for me for some time?”

“I’ll try,” the shopkeeper smiled. “People around here don’t usually have that kind of money to spend on things. It should keep for a while.”

Antonio respectfully touched his worn cap and walked out. He would raise the money and not tell anybody, for he thought Mum would be surprised when she saw that brooch. On hearing the sound of hammering (锤打) from a side street, Antonio suddenly had an idea that he could raise money by selling the used nail bags. People built their own homes in Bay Roberts, using nails bought in bags from a local factory. Sometimes the used bags were thrown away at the construction site, and Antonio knew he could sell them back to the factory for five cents a piece. That day he sold two nail bags and hid the money in a rusty soda tin.

文章大意:本文是一篇新闻报道,主要讲的是尼日利亚农民Ogbole采用气雾栽培来种植,以及这种种植方法的优点。

10 . Hunger is a very real problem around the world. This year, almost 7 million people have died of hunger already. Why do people still die of hunger when there’s more than enough food in the world?

Well, considering that there are places in the world where basic needs like housing and clean, drinkable water are not met, then it doesn't come as a surprise that food is just not available to them. The food exists—it just doesn’t get to where it needs to be.

Nigerian farmer Ogbole decided to grow fruit and vegetables in a different way. Ogbole’s farming process is mainly about two ideas: soilless farming and aeroponics (气雾栽培). To put it simply, he’s growing food in the air.

As Ogbole explained, aeroponics is the future of agriculture because it offers many benefits. For example, it is cheaper than traditional farming because there is no need to hire as many workers since everything is done with a “click”. Also, this kind of farming is more environmentally friendly since farmers don’t use chemicals. At the same time, there are no space limitations.

Recently, the young farmer’s work was praised on social media when he was featured in a network post. In the post, Ogbole’s farming method was mentioned, and Internet users had the chance to see pictures of the farmer’s produce.

Many viewers think southern Nigeria needs this method to grow crops. This will help in bringing down the price. It seems that people are already realizing that this method will change the way people grow food. And, most importantly, it will help solve some of the issues related to hunger around the world.

1. What does the figure in paragraph 1 show?
A.The seriousness of hunger.B.The number of hungry people.
C.The necessity of growing food in the air.D.The existing population problem.
2. Why do people still die of hunger in the world according to the text?
A.There is not enough food supply.B.Their basic needs are not met.
C.They have no scientific planting methods.D.Food is not equally shared.
3. What is paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.The theory of aeroponics.B.The advantages of aeroponics.
C.The method of growing food in the air.D.The downsides of traditional farming.
4. What’s viewers’ attitude towards Qgbole’s farming method?
A.Doubt.B.Disapproving.C.Positive.D.Indifferent.
