1 . For my daughter's 19th birthday, we bought her tickets to go and see Linkin Park, as they were playing in our city. We didn't really have the ________ but we knew how much this band meant to her.

The night before she was like a ________ at Christmas. Every so often she got up and came to ________ with us, because she couldn't ________ . On the night of the concert it was good to see her so ________ and excited, as she and her boyfriend set off.

Needless to say when they ________ after midnight, with T-shirts and lots of pictures of the band, ________ her telling about how fantastic they had been, we knew the money had been well ________ . This will be a memory she would never forget, and nor would we.

________ full of excitement from the night before, the following day they ________ to go shopping on the other side of the city. My husband and I laughed, loving the fact that she had not ________   that quality as she grew up.

Later that day they returned, with faces full of happiness and warmth. They presented my husband and me with a ________ each. On each present were the words "Because you are the ________ mum/dad in the world. "When we expressed our thanks and told her she didn't have to, we asked her why she had bought us gifts. Her answer was simply "Just because I love you."

This wasn't something ________ from our daughter; she had always given us gifts when she wanted to express her ________ , and each gift was always a welcome surprise. It could have been anything, it wouldn't have mattered, and it was the act itself and the feelings behind it.

2 . Tom was seven years old. He got some money from his mother every week. He_________a lot of things from the shops_________in fact he didn’t need them. 3 . I almost died when I feel into the boiling water at the age of three. The ________ left me with serious burns and scars (伤疤) all over my body. I spent many years in hospital having hundreds of ________, which meant years and years of skin grafts (移植).

In my teens, I realized that I was ________ to my friends. They were all beautiful young ladies and I had these terrible scars under my clothes which made me feel ugly. ________, swimming helped me a lot. I can’t ________ that I was burned in the water and yet it also helped to ________ me. In the water I was at my happiest.

I was a competitive swimmer for many years and then was ________ to be a swimming teacher for the local swim club. Even though ________ in a gym is difficult for me, swimming is much ________ as I can sweat in the pool.

This year I swam from Asia to Europe alongside the talented physical sports expert Professor Greg. I swam close to Greg asking for his ________ in a swim challenge and he agreed to help me out. When I climbed out, I broke down and wept and just couldn’t control my ________. I was told afterwards that I ________ in one hour and 28 minutes. I couldn’t believe it as I kept stopping wanting to ________ but Greg really inspired me all the way to the finish.

I was doing this for all those people who had ________ years of self body hating, severe depression, low self-confidence and of course my wonderful families. ________ women are survivors of life.
