3 . Do you need to "edit your friends"? Is your mobile phone directory full of phone numbers of people you don't really want to talk to? Do you go out with people from work or school more often than with your real friends? Do you say yes to invitations because you think you should, not because you want to? If you answered yes to at least two of these questions, then perhaps you need to "edit your friends".

Nowadays people like to spend a lot of time with people at work or classmates at school. The result is that we don't have enough time to see our real, close friends. As our lives get busier, it becomes more important to spend the little free time we have with people we really want to see, people we love and who really love us.

Who are the friends you need to edit? A few years ago I read a book about how to get rid of unnecessary possessions (物品). It said you should ask yourself about each thing you have: Is it useful? Do I really like it? Do I feel better every time I look at it? If the answer is no to any one of those questions, you should throw it away. Maybe we should ask similar questions about our friends.

What kind of friends will you probably need to edit? Sometimes it's an old friend. Somebody who you used to have a lot in common with, but who, when you meet now, you have very little or nothing to say to. Or it might be a new friend who you get on quite well with, but who is taking up too much of your time. Next time one of these people calls you and suggests a meeting, think "Do I really want to see this person?", and if the answer is no, say no, and make an excuse. That way you'll have more time to spend with your real friends.

1. People need to edit their friends when_______.
A.they have moved to a different area
B.they have no time with their real friends
C.some of their friends don't talk very much
D.their friends are people from work or school
2. People don't need to edit their_________.
A.real friends.B.young friends
C.old friends.D.new friends
3. What does the writer want to tell us in Paragraph 3?
A.We should often throw some possessions.
B.Most of our friends are not necessary at all.
C.We shouldn't treat our friends as possessions.
D.We should ask ourselves who our real friends are.

4 . Stranger Safety Tips for Children

Your feelings tell you that you are safe with some people like your mom or dad, brothers or sisters; your grandparents; teachers at school.

People that you do not know very well can mean danger. You may meet these people anywhere, in the streets, stores, theaters, or on the playgrounds. These people are strangers. Simply, a stranger is someone that you do not know.

Not all strangers are bad, but it is very difficult to tell bad strangers from good strangers. Strangers can come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. Even a teenager could be considered a stranger to you.

If a "stranger" comes towards you, you should:

● Never talk to a stranger.

● Never go near a stranger.

● Never accept gifts or rides from a stranger.

● Never go anywhere with a stranger.

Report strangers to your parents, teachers, bus drivers, or an adult that you know well.

The main rule to remember: "Stay away from strangers".

When you are alone at home, always lock the door. Do not answer the door if someone knocks. Never let strangers into the house. If the telephone rings, answer it. Do not tell anyone that you are alone. You can tell them your parent cannot come to the phone right now. Ask who is calling, and offer to take a message.

6 . The most unusual museum in London is the Science Museum. In most museums, there’s no shouting and no running, and you aren’t allowed to touch the exhibits (展品). But the Science Museum is different, because it’s noisy! People talk about what they can see and do there, and some of the machines are noisy as well. Visiting the Science Museum is fun and it’s a great way to learn about science because you can work things out and try out ideas.

When I visit the Science Museum, I go to the Launch Pad. This is my favourite room because you can do physics experiments. For example, if you want to fill a bag with falling sand, you have to move a kind of truck on wheels into the correct position. I also go to the Rocket Show. You can learn how we travel into space and back again.

Then I go upstairs to Human and Nature room. You can compare your speed with animals there. You hear a noise and push a button (按钮). If you aren’t fast enough, the lion catches you! I’m faster than all my friends, but the lion still catches me.

There are also rooms on transport, the environment and space technology, as well as maths, physics and chemistry.

You can do a lot of things in this museum, but you have to obey some rules as well. For example, you mustn’t take photos of the exhibits in the museum. But you can buy postcards of them in the museum shops.

Above all, the Science Museum is free. That means you can drop in for a few minutes or you can stay as long as you like—it’s open every day, from 10 am to 6 pm. So if you ever go to London, make sure you visit the Science Museum. It’s my favourite museum in the whole world.

1. What is the writer’s favourite room?
A.The Launch Pad.B.The rooms on space technology.
C.The Human and Nature room.D.The Rocket Show.
2. What can’t you do in the Science Museum?
A.Touch the machines.B.Do chemistry experiments.
