2 . How many books have you finished since high school? Between study, work, family, and social lives, trying to find time to read needs more effort than a relaxing hobby. How can you get reading books into your full schedule?    1    

Borrow more books than you can read. Libraries have very large “limits” on books you can take out.     2     Return anything you don’t like. Some of the most efficient readers return five out of six books unread. This is not something to be ashamed of.

    3     If you have a whole morning to read, you might hope for more kinds. People who read a lot have something going to suit all tastes.

Try the 50-page rule. If you feel you have to finish all the books you start, you may be stuck in something boring and not read again for weeks.     4     You’ll find something else you love more soon.

Don’t care about any thoughts about what you “should” be reading. It is OK if you are not so interested in the world’s great literature. Read what you want.     5     If you’re only reading because you “should” read, then over time, reading will drop from the top of your list down to laundry level or going to the dentist.

Once there lived a rich man     1     wanted to do something for the people of his town.     2     at first he wanted to find out whether they deserved (值得) his help.

In the centre of the main road into the town, he placed     3     very large stone. Then he     4    (hide) behind a tree and waited. Soon an old man came along with his cow.

7 . Will it matter if you don’t take your breakfast? Recently a test was given in the United States. Those tested included people of different ages, from 12 to 83. During the experiment, these people were given all kinds of breakfasts, and sometimes they got no breakfast at all. Special tests were set up to see how well their bodies worked when they had eaten a certain kind of breakfast. The results show that if a person eats a proper breakfast, he or she will work with better effect than if he or she has no breakfast. This fact appears to be especially true if a person works with his brains. If a student eats fruit, eggs, bread and milk before going to school, he will learn more quickly and listen with more attention to class.

Opposite to what many people believe, if you don’t eat breakfast, you will not lose weight. This is because people become so hungry at noon that they eat too much for lunch, and end up gaining weight instead of losing. You will probably lose more weight if you reduce your other meals.

Nowadays, most students in our school don’t do sports for kinds of reasons.
