Friends play a very important part in everyone’s life. Friendship     1    (usual) develops during childhood. New friends are made when you progress through school. Those friends     2    you make as a student can usually last long. Friends influence your development, maturity (成熟) and sense of responsibility (责任). A familiar expression is “You can tell a lot about a person by     3    (know) who his fiends are.” Friendship     4    (base) on common interests. This friend is eager to help you whenever necessary. He or she knows you would do the same for them. A true friend is someone you can talk to about any subject or problem. I am taught by many teachers in my school. Every subject has a     1     (differ) teacher, but I like my math teacher    2     (well). Her name is Lakshmi, but we usually call her Ma’am. She is our class teacher, too.

Ma’am     3     (join) us last term. She is very kind and her method of teaching is so interesting and simple     4     we all can understand what is being taught. “Well, how much do I get paid?” his grandpa asked, smiling. “As many hugs as you want!” With these words, Jack gave Grandpa a hug. “Well, I guess that means I’m the     10     (rich) man in the world!” said Grandpa.

4 . Christmas is the most important festival in the western world. It     1    (fall) on December 25^th . When my mother and I stayed in America, we     2    (invite) by one of my mother’s friends to observe Christmas with an American family. They had prepared different kinds of gifts for their family and guests when we got to their house, such as Christmas candles, cakes, cards, little toys, biscuits and so on. A Christmas tree was placed in     5     corner of the brilliant hall.     6     beautiful is was! We were impressed by these. We had a big meal,     7    (share) some interesting stories about Christmas and sang songs.
