I have recently been told that I am one of the millions of Americans who will be suffering from Alzheimer's Disease(老年性痴呆).

Upon learning this news, Nancy and I had to decide whether as private citizens we would ________ this a private matter or we would make this news known in a ________ way.

In the past Nancy suffered from breast cancer ________ I had my cancer surgeries. We found through our open disclosures(透露的秘闻)we were able to ________ public awareness. We were happy that ________ many more people underwent testing. They were treated in early stages and able to ________ to normal, healthy lives.

So now, we feel it is ________ to share it with you. In opening our hearts, we hope this might promote greater ________ of this condition. Perhaps it will encourage a clearer understanding of the individuals and families who are ________ by it.

At the moment I feel just fine. I ________ to live the remainder of the years God gives me on this earth doing the things I have ________   done. I will continue to share ________ journey with my beloved Nancy and my family.   I plan to enjoy the great outdoors and stay in touch ________ my friends and supporters.

9 . I love persimmons(柿子). A few years ago, preparing to travel from San Francisco to Boston, I_________two persimmons, one of which I_________in the flight departure lounge(候机室), waiting to board the_________.

A lady _________me and asked from which store in the airport the fruit was bought. She looked a bit _________hearing that it couldn’t be purchased from any airport shop. I thought to myself, “I can_________the second persimmon to her.” When I _________her the fruit, she at first _________ , but when I insisted, she was visibly glad and appreciatively accepted. I_________my corner of the lounge, satisfied to have made someone else__________and that I thought was the end of the story.

Sometime during the flight, the lady caught up with me in the aisle(过道) to__________me again for the persimmon. She__________that she had grown up in Japan, where there was a persimmon tree in the yard of her childhood home. She now lived in Boston, where she hadn’t been able to find the fruit. The taste of this one persimmon was precious to her, __________her with memories of her parents and grandparents by our senses of taste and smell, as if magically.

Only then did the influence of this tiny act dawn on me. To this day I am__________by it so much that the taste of the persimmon I never ate gives me more__________than all the ones I have eaten, combined.

10 . My husband is a ballet dancer, performing out of our state for the first time. The distance is long, but phone calls and video talks help make us feel a little bit_________. I’ve been worrying about money and can’t_________ the trip or the tickets to his show.

He called me last night well_________ I had gone to bed, so when the call_________ me up I answered with a sinking feeling. He’d finished a_________, and a   rude   dancer   had   hurt his feelings, but this wasn’t what the call was about. He had been awake thinking about me and_________ me.
