The question “Who is your hero？”is a difficult one to answer. So many people have done heroic things     1     it is hard to choose just one. In addition, there is     2     (many) than one type of hero.

First, we have heroes in popular culture: in books, films and cartoons, etc. Superman and Batman are two famous film heroes, the latter of     3     has no superpowers, and instead has to rely on     4     (he) own skills. Of course, there are many real­world people who are     5     (know) around the world for their heroic deeds. People like Nelson Mandela, Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King     6     (consider) to be heroes. They were brave and devoted to their people. There are also unsung heroes. They     7     (usual) do good things － yet don't expect to receive praise for their actions. Unknown heroes are everywhere － teachers, firemen, police officers, soldiers, doctors.

No matter what type of hero these people are, they all have something     8     common. They often have to overcome many difficulties     9     (achieve) their dreams. They do things for the benefit of society without     10     (seek) any reward for their actions.

I am looking at an old friend of mine.

He has been one of my best    1    (friend ) for almost 12 years. He has blessed my life with his loyalty, kindness,     2    (wise) and love since the day when I first met him.     3    doesn’t matter to me that he has four legs instead of two, fur instead of clothes, and barks at me instead of talking to me.

As I watch my friend sleeping    4    the sun, I can’t help    5    (think) of all the goodness he has brought into my life. He has been with me every day through good and bad times. He has always been my protector. He has always reminded me that I am loved and showed me how              6    (love) others at the same time.

My friend has aged far     7    (quickly) than me and had more and more health problems over the years. I am not sure how long we will be together before he     8    (pass) away from this world.

This     9    (wonder) dog has helped me understand that you don’t have to be perfect to be loved and    10    poor health and old age might affect the body but they don’t have to decrease the spirit.

3 . It is the Thanksgiving Day. I have the strong desire to write about something to express my thanks to the people around me.

I     1     (bring up) by my grandparents     2    are as kind and hardworking as thousands of Chinese peasants in a distant village. They worked in the field all day long and took good care of me as well .

    3     (Honest) speaking, my parents are ordinary people.    4     I must say that they are great educators, for they educated me to be an     5     (dependent) and useful man to society.

My teachers, selfless, generous, devote themselves to     6     (help) each individual student achieve his/her ambition.

Meanwhile, I can share my happiness and     7     (sad) with my peer students. I am happy to be with them because we have much       8     common.
