When I was mostly in middle school and high school I was tormented because I was ugly. It still happens from time to time. But it was much worse in middle school and first year of high school. Random strangers would call me ugly. Once I was walking to school and the boys behind told his friend “yo, that girl is mad ugly.” Another incident I had was in the bus filled with rowdy kids and as I pushed the door to get out, a kid I walked by saying “ugly bitch.” I had groups of girls also say that to me and would give me nasty faces. I barely have any friends due to this and that fact though I’ve been very academic all the time.
All of this has put me into depression. I do not like most boys and they don’t like me because I am not pretty enough and treat me like crap because of it. I get very anxious to be in public a lot and in school as I still have groups of mean girls staring me down and boys too. I have enough of feelings like an alien, I replay these horrible memories over and hate it, I hate I was born with this face, why couldn’t everyone be born equally beautiful? How can I get over this pain and not be so anxious? I think I am hideous, especially the sides of my face.

People use more than one exclamation mark (“Sounds good!!!),and all caps (“GREAT IDEA!”),and repetition of letters (“soooo tired”)in social media. These are the three main ones that show enthusiasm, according to Deborah Tannen, a professor at Georgetown University. It is the same for the Chinese character “哈(ha)”,which we use to represent laughter. We usually text two, three or more of these characters to indicate how happy or amused we are. Using many of these kinds of symbols and characters is clearly becoming a cultural phenomenon.
“HEY STEVE!” someone recently emailed me. Both my name and “Hey” were in caps, and all five sentences in the message ended with exclamation marks. At first glance I assumed the message was a loved one writing from a plane that was going down. It turned out to be someone I hardly knew, discussing minor household chores and thanking me for something that had taken no effort on my part.
I hate it, that if we don’t put six exclamation marks in an email or text we sound like a 13-year-old girl. But when used too much, the exclamation mark makes no sense to the receiver, losing its intended meaning.

4 . Yesterday, the Peoples Court of Qi County in Henan Province had a special plaintiff, an eleven-year-old boy in the fifth grade. He accused his parents of peeping at his diary, which violated his privacy.
After looking into the case, the judge found out what had happened to the boy and his parents. Li used to be an excellent student, but recently, he couldn’t focus on his studies. His parents were busy with their business, so they cared little about him. However, after learning about their son’s change, they managed to peep at his diary. From the diary, they learned that their son had a love affair with a girl in the same class. Then they got very angry and scolded him severely. As a result, the boy charged his parents with violating his privacy.
Facing the special case, the judge said, “Li is not a grown-up, but he has privacy protected by law. But in this case, what his parents did was to try to understand his thought in order to help him grow up healthily, which couldn’t be defined as an invasion.” Later, the judge told the parents it was unwise to peep at the child’s diary. Instead, they should try to talk to him. With the help of the judge, the boy promised to concentrate on his studies.
