The winter holiday is coming. My classmates and I are talking about how to do during the holiday. We can chose between staying at home and take a trip. It was my 18th birthday and I was looking forward to see my friends. I arrived at my favorite restaurant, waiting for him. We would have the special birthday dinner. I looked for a familiar face but failed. Soon the restaurant was filled customers, none of which were my friends. An hour later, I went back home, lonely and disappointed. To my greatly surprise, I found the door was wide open while I arrived home. Nervous, I walked into the dark room. Suddenly, all the light went on and my friends were turned up, shouting ''surprise''. I had an unforgettable birthday.

5 . A Housewarming Party

A housewarming party is a special party to be held when someone buys or moves into a new apartment or house.The person or people who bought the apartment or house or moved are the ones who throw the party.     1       It also gives people a chance to see what the new home looks like. It is an opportunity to fill the new space with love and hopeful presents.

It is traditional to bring a gift to a housewarming party.    2       Some common items(物品) people will put on a gift registry include kitchen tools like knives and items like curtains. Even if there isn’t a registry, a good housewarming gift is something to decorate the new house with, like, a piece of art or a plant.     3       This is often appreciated since at a housewarming party there isn’t a lot of food served, usually just appetizers or sandwiches.

    4    The host or hostess of the party will, however, probably give all the guests a tour of their new home.Sometimes, because a housewarming party happens shortly after a person moves into a new home, people may be asked to help unpack boxes.This isn’t usual though.

On the eve of the National Day, I together with a lot of people sing loudly and danced excitedly in the Tiananmen Square, celebrated the happy moment. Among us there were a large number of foreigners as well too. Last year, my family and I decide to go to Sanya celebrate my birthday. The beach was such clean that I wanted to go there as soon as we arrived. We travelled around the island, taken a lot of pictures. We had lunch at one of the small restaurant by the sea. The food was very delicious and fresh, especially seafood. My parents gave me an ice cream cake, but my sister gave me a present that she made it by herself. Everyone at the restaurant said Happy Birthday for me. It was the very impressively birthday for me. l am looking forward to go there again.

8 . Halloween is a holiday for all ages, but trick-or-treating is something traditionally done by kids. But, it’s a fun activity that anyone can experience. And at 91 years old, Mary “Baba” Spaeth was able to experience trick-or-treating for the very first time.

On October 28, Spaeth’s daughter Christine Spaeth Richardson noticed that her mom seemed to be sad on the day. Richardson knew how much her mother loves to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and knew Halloween was coming up, so she decided to use the opportunity to take her mom trick-or-treating, too.

The experience was new for Baba. She came to the United States in the 1940s from Croatia as a teenager, where trick-or-treating wasn’t a tradition. Her family participated in American holidays, such as Halloween, but the great-grandma never had the chance to go trick-or-treating herself until now. This time, she went around to friends’ and family’s houses for an early trick-or-treating period. It wasn’t a totally traditional trick-or-treating experience. Besides not taking place on October 31, Baba actually brought the treats. She gave out candy to the kids, and pizza and wine to the grown-ups. It took a couple of houses before Baba remembered to start off the conversation with “trick-or-treat.”

She had a blast! She got so many hugs and kisses and pictures, too! She just couldn’t stop talking about tricking all her great grand babies! All the hugs and kisses from all her grandkids and great grandbabies made her so warm and happy! Never underestimate the power of a hug, a smile, a kiss. Most of all, a big tight feeling from a family group hug now is a TREAT! She’ll talk about it for a long time.
