6 . 阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Ever try to get your children to wear bike helmets? They cry, “Johnny and Sara said helmets are for nerds!” And you respond, “I don't care what Johnny and Sara say. You'll do as I say!” This tactic usually fails, of course. It didn't work when your parents said that to you, did it?

Today, wearing a helmet is vital to your child's safety. Each year, bike-related accidents injure about 350, 000 children age 14 and under. Many suffer head injuries; bike helmets can reduce the risk of head injuries by 85 percent. Yet, peer pressure can be a safety risk for children. Experts say children begin to care more about their friends' opinions than their parents' as early as the second grade. A child may refuse to wear a helmet if friends don't, or if they think wearing a bike helmet is not “cool.”

How can a safety-conscious parent deal with this kind of peer pressure? The National SAFE KIDS Campaign provides some suggestions for parents. You can encourage helmet use before “being cool” matters. Some experts suggest putting helmets on children when they begin riding tricycles. If children get used to wearing helmets before age seven, they may find them more acceptable later. It is also important for you to set a good example. The example of parents strongly influences children. You can set a household rule that applies to everyone: If you ride a bicycle, you wear a helmet. In addition, you can promote bicycle helmet use among other parents. Educate other parents about how helmets can reduce the risk of head injuries. This will reduce peer pressure by making rules consistent from household to household.

Every time your children ride a bicycle, ask them to wear helmets, even if it is a five-minute ride. It is your responsibility as a parent. Take a stand when peer pressure is working against you. Be firm. Make it clear that if your children do not wear helmets, they cannot ride their bicycles.

8 . One of my earliest memories was watching my mum talk on our old phone. I was fascinated (着迷的) that she could talk to someone who wasn’t actually in the room with her.     1    I was wondering how she managed to talk with someone she couldn’t see.

2     Later, we had mobile phones that could be carried around the room. Then came computers and smart-phones. These days I can send an e-mail around the world in a second. My daughter’s smartphone has a hundred apps and a dozen social media accounts. She stores all of her information in a mysterious place known as “the cloud”, where she can take it out at any time. It seems that we are more connected in this world than ever before.

However, what bothers me is that we rarely associate with (来往) each other nowadays.     3    Instead of looking into the eyes of our loved ones, we stare at our screens. It seems as if the most connected generations are also the loneliest.

Don’t let technology take our time and ruin our life. Make time to meet, to pray and to communicate with each other. Take a walk on the beach with a friend. Have a long conversation with the phones off and the hearts on.     4

Remember that we are here to love each other, help each other and make this world a better place.     5    But when it can’t, turn it off.

A.That was a long time ago.
B.Connect offline as well as online.
C.Few take the time to talk face to face.
D.Smartphones have both advantages and disadvantages.
E.We should communicate with each other with phones off.
F.When your technology can help to do these things, then use it.
G.When she left the room, I slowly walked over to the phone and stared at it for a while.

For example,Damla Ece in Turkey wrote:I agree with the idea of starting lessons later so teenagers can feel better in the morning. But sleeping more than seven hours can be wasting time for students.

Tran in Vietnam disagreed:I think teenagers,on average, need eight to ten hours of sleep every day. It's useless to try to force them to concentrate while they can't concentrate.

Afshin Heydari from Iran wrote:Schools should start early to avoid heavy traffic later in the morning.

And Suze from Jordan wrote:When I was a teenager,I enjoyed taking my courses as early as possible. That way I could find a long time in the day to do my own activities.

But Azra from Kyrgyzstan said:The reason why schools start early here is a lack of classrooms.

And Joruji in Japan wrote:When I was a teenager,I used to get up before six to go to school, which was far from home, and I don't remember having problems.I think nowadays the Internet,TV games and cell phones make teens go to sleep later.

Thirtyyearold Kika in Spain said:In my opinion, young people are very lazy.

But Dennis Jin disagreed:For high school students in China,we must reach class at 6:20 in the morning and be back home usually at 10:00 in the evening. Then we'll have some extra schoolwork to do.Can you imagine how long could we sleep every day?

Teenagers are not the only ones who suffer.Kathy in Canada wrote:My daughter likes complaining about everything in the morning, and I know that this is from lack of sleep.I wish schools should change their start time to 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning.

And Naima Star in Libya wrote:Getting up so early in the morning and leaving the warm bed is so difficult, especially in the cold weather. It reminds me of that old song:“It's nice to get up in the morning, but it's nicer to stay in bed.”

10 . Experts praise the virtues of social connectivity. It’s linked to better resistance to stress and even longer life.     1     Research suggests that loneliness increases the risk of heart disease, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure and even early death.     2     Doing things by yourself allows you to enjoy activities you love at your own pace and in your own way. Through solitary (独处) pursuits, you learn more about yourself and reflect on your experiences.

3     It is an important part of self-development. It allows you to get to know yourself. When you are surrounded by other, you might set your own ideas and passions aside in order to meet the wants and needs of your friends and family. Taking time on your own gives you a critical opportunity to make creative choices and focus your attention without worrying about what other people are thinking.

4     But research has found that people are often better at solving difficult problems when they work on their own. Where group efforts are often about achieving consensus (一致的意见) and fitting in with the crowd, solo work encourages creativity without added social pressure.

Relationships are often strongest when each person takes time to take care of themselves. Even when it comes to friendships, the old saying may be true. A little absence might really make the heart grow fonder. Having friendships and a strong social support system is important for your mental health and well-being.     5

A.Being alone is harmful if it feels like a punishment.
B.Being alone gives you time to focus on your interests.
C.Being alone, on the other hand, is often associated with loneliness.
D.Research has shown that many people actually prefer being on their own.
E.However, research is increasingly showing that doing things alone does pay off.
F.Brainstorming together is often seen as one of the best ways to generate new ideas.
G.But being alone occasionally may make you appreciate those connections even more.
