1 . I was 40, with two adorable children and a caring husband. And I’m enjoying a challenging but _________ career. Although this is “success”, sometimes I feel my heart asking if this is who I truly am.

The mountains in Iceland rise black and tall into the heavens against the white snow. Looking outside at wild wind and rain and knowing there’s no decision to make _________ the soul. Climbing a mountain against sheets of rain and returning to a tent for a simple meal _________ me how little I actually needed and how strong I felt __________ uncomfortable.

I found __________ in Iceland, and time to consider “the me” outside career and kids as I shared stories with strangers with no __________ past and no expected future. When I stopped talking and just listened, I was surprised at how my __________ changed—I became more generous. I learned generosity can __________ more space and more warmth __________ when there may not seem enough to go around at first glance.

I came home to __________, chaos and love. I know the answer isn’t waiting out there on the top of a mountain or inside my head, however __________ I try to hear; and it isn’t in conversations with other seeking souls. The answer is in front of me with every step on my own life’s __________.

I’m not finding myself, but I’m creating myself. I need the storm as much as I need the quietness. __________ is built under a heavy load. I’m expecting to pick up all of my loads and travel __________.

5 . During a recent long international trip, my youngest daughter got airsick again.

We were _______ our choices after landing in San Francisco for an overnight layover (中途停留).

When we stood in the middle of the terminal (航站楼), not only _______ how to get to our hotel, but also debating whether or not we should just turn around and go home, a pilot _______ us.

He quietly asked me if my 4-year-old daughter was the passenger who had gotten _______ on the flight. I nodded, half afraid someone was going to tell us we weren’t _______ to fly with her.

7 . On my way back home I was stopped at a traffic light by some people who asked for help. A woman - in her ______ to give way to an ambulance - had driven her car ______ stony obstacles that separate the bike line from the street,   and had gotten her car ______ as a result. She couldn’t ______ the car in any direction without damaging it. A couple of people tried to ______ the car hack but the obstacles were too high. Seeing that they couldn’t do much about it, they left and the woman in the car tried to call the police for help.

8 . Hannah Taylor is a schoolgirl from Manitoba, Canada. One day, when she was five years old, she was walking with her mother in downtown Winnipeg. They saw a man_________out of a garbage can. She asked her mother why he did that and her mother said that the man was homeless and hungry. Hannah was very_________.She couldn't understand why some people had to live their lives without shelter or enough food. Hannah started to think about how she could_________,but, of course, there is not a lot one five-year-old can do to solve(解决)the problem of homelessness.

Later, when Hannah attended school, she saw another homeless person. It was a woman,_______ an old shopping trolley（购物车）which was piled with_______. She had been talking to her mother about the lives of homeless people_______they first saw the homeless man. She started the Ladybug Foundation, an organization aiming at getting rid of homelessness. She also organized a fundraising(募捐)drive in “Ladybug Jars” to collect everyone`s spare change during “Make Change” month. More recently, the foundation began another ________ called National Red Scarf Day—a day when people donate $20 and wear red scarves in support of Canada`s ________and homeless.

There is an emergency shelter in Winnipeg called “Hannah`s Place”, something that Hannah is very________of. Hannah`s Place is divided into several areas, providing shelter for people when it is so cold that________outdoors can mean death. In the more than five years since Hannah began her activities, she has received a lot of ________.For example, she received the 2007 BRICK Award recognizing the ________ of young people to change the world. But ________   all this, Hannah still has the ________   life of a Winnipeg schoolgirl, except that she pays regular visits to homeless people.

9 . I’d planned to spend my weekend in the sun, enjoying flowers outdoors. But that was ____ the pair of disgusting crows (乌鸦) arrived. Out of nowhere, they had set up their base ____ in our backyard.

10 . Last week, my 8-year-old daughter was listening to Nimo’s song Empty Hands. Suddenly, she put forward, “how about we_______ heart-shaped cards with beautiful messages and hang them on everyone’s mailboxes around the_______?” And her two little brothers also got super excited about the idea and their project was_______ off.

Every day they made a few cards—they cut the cards into shape of hearts, wrote kind messages and wishes and then_______ them. They wrote a lot of_______ like—“Thank you for your kindness;We are all together; Love over fear; Gratitude (感激) over_______” and many more…
