In ancient China lived an artist    1     paintings were almost lifelike. The artist’s reputation had made him proud. One day the emperor wanted to get his portrait (画像) done so he called all great artists to come and present their     2     (fine) work, so that he could choose the best. The artist was sure he would    3    (choose), but when he presented his masterpiece to the emperor’s chief minister, the old man laughed. The wise old man told him to travel to the Li River～perhaps he could learn a little from the greatest artist in the world.

Filled with     4     (curious), the artist packed his bags and left.     5     he asked the villagers on the banks of the river where he could find the legendary (传奇的) artist, they smiled and     6     (point) down the river. One morning, I was waiting at the bus stop, worried about     1     (be) late for school. When I was still a young girl, I used to love going adventuring in the wild. One of my clearest memories from early childhood was     1     my dad took me along for a trip on a small path that went through the woods near our home. If he was not busy working, my dad would always take me down to the bush every weekend and together we would collect many sticks and stones to add     2     our collections.

After what seemed like hours, I felt a sigh of relief rush through my body. I saw the country field filled with cows and sheep. In the foggy distance I saw my dad lying down without moving a muscle. In 2015, a reporter from Jiangsu Province went to Australia and some other    1     ( country ) with his father for a 3-month trip. His father spent most of his life     2     ( work ) in the field. The son started the     3     ( amaze) trips with his father around the world because his father had cancer---a serious illness.

The reporter wanted    4     ( take ) his father to travel, hoping that his father can find his younger self in his last days. An elephant was standing and picking leaves from a tree. A small fly (苍蝇) came,     1     (fly) near his ear. The elephant waved it away     2     his long ears. Then the fly came again, and the elephant waved it away again. This was repeated several times. Then the elephant got impatient and asked the fly, “Why are you so restless and     3     (noise)? I rule and control my attention so that I can enjoy everything that I am doing.”
