Zhang Meng, from Zhejiang Province, was offered a high-paid job in Beijing in a large company. The promising job     1     (give) her a fairly comfortable life, but deep down she     2     (actual) felt that something was missing.

After many nights of     3     (think) about the purpose of her life, the 33-year-old decided to leave the city and return     4     her hometown. She gave up the lifestyle     5     only centers on working to become a     6     (profession) farmer.

Zhang and several like-minded     7     (friend) rented (租用) a piece of land on an island in Chongming, on the outskirts of Shanghai, to grow crops (作物).

She now grows organic sweet potatoes, long beans     8     other crops on the rented piece of land. For Zhang, it’s about enjoying a healthy and peaceful life. I got my first job in a library when I was a history graduate student at Yale. I worked part-time copying oral history     1    （record）in the university library. Kyrgyzstan(吉尔吉斯斯坦) is a mountainous country where nearly two thirds of the people live in rural areas. The UN notes that the local economy depends     1    (heavy)on farming. So it is rare for any Kyrgyz to choose technology     2     a career path.

The UN Development Programme studied records about the country’s college     3    (graduate)in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, construction and manufacturing. It found that women make up less than 10 percent of those graduates.

My father always told me, "All work is noble. ” He wasn't wealthy, but he earned a quite     1     (reason) living. Thanks to his effort, I was able to go to an art college. I, however, wanted to do something different, something more interesting - I was special!

After graduation, I moved to New York     2     search of a graphic designer job. It was winter and I only brought money to support myself for about a month. I wasn't worried-I was sure I'd find a fantastic job immediately.
