I love doing housework. I always assist my parents in doing the dish after meals. I also water the flowers in the yard and tidying up my own bedroom whatever necessary. In my opinion, students can benefit a lot doing some housework. Firstly, doing housework was helpful for us to be a responsible person. Also, it gives our parents more time to do what they are like and it improves the family relationship. What’s most, doing housework can be a form of mentally relaxation from study. That’s our view on housework. And hopes this can inspire more thinking on the topic!

Every summer vacation, I feel very exciting to visit my grandparents, which have been living in the countryside since they retired. I often get up early in the morning and breathe fresh airs. At noon, I pick some vegetables and fruits in my grandmother's backyard, but my grandfather often cooks for delicious food for me. When night fell, I often sit under the sky, appreciating the beautiful stars and telling my grandparents something about their life in the city. When I have to go back to the city, I always feel little bit sad. I really have a great sense of satisfy when living in the countryside because I am attract by everything there.
5 . When our second baby was coining, I couldn’t help worrying about my older daughter. Would the introduction of a sibling(兄弟姐妹) be a problem for her? Would she like a sibling? My husband and I read all the books we could find on preparing for a sibling and came up with a plan of action to help our daughter get used to it.
Our plan went really smoothly for the first year of our daughters, living together. But as the little one grew and became a person with opinions and feet that walked and hands that could pick up toys easily, things got more difficult.
Having more than one kid is a management challenge — one I failed at daily. I immediately turned to a bestseller Siblings Without Rivalry by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish — and it was helpful. But it paid more attention to older siblings and those who are closer in age than our two.
And, then, two months ago I received a copy of Dr. Laura Markham’s Peaceful Parent, Happy Siblings, and it changed my parenting forever. It is a step-by-step guide to calming conflict and creating connection and even friendship between siblings. From laying the groundwork for emotional connection so kids are less likely to act out on their siblings, to managing fights, this is a great guide to helping your kids get along. And it actually includes examples you can relate to.
My husband and I are parenting differently and better since reading it. The book is of practical value and really worth reading. If you are thinking of adding another child to your family or you have trouble with the ones you have pick it up.

6 . Grandma was going to turn eighty-two on Friday. I heard Mom ordering a cake from the bakery over the phone. “Don’t put any icing on it,” she said, “Just a plain angel cake.” Angel cake with fresh strawberries was her favorite. So Mum was ready.
That afternoon when Dad came home, he showed me the phone he had bought for Grandma. “It has speed-dialing,” he said. “She won’t have to push so many buttons when she calls the doctor’s office or her sister.” Dad looked pleased. “Her fingers are so stiff with arthritis (关节炎) that the phone seems a good idea.”
But what about me? Here I was with only one dollar in my pocket and one night to think of a gift. Even though Mom always insisted that “it’s the thought that counts,” I had a big problem. My mind was even more empty of ideas than my wallet was empty of money.
When I have a problem, it sometimes helps to shoot a few baskets in the driveway. Dribble, shoot, rebound.
For a while I just played without even trying to think. I began to remember back before Granddad died, when we used to visit them in Kentucky, Granddad showed me how to do a jump shot. Thinking about Granddad made me sigh. Grandma’s life was a lot happier when he was alive.
Swish! I’d made two in a row.
Suddenly, I remembered a green glass dish in the shape of a leaf that Grandma used to keep on a table back in Kentucky. It was always full of those red-and-white-striped peppermint candies. I hadn’t thought of that dish for a long time. Maybe it was lost or broken when Dad rented the truck and brought Grandma and the belongings to Ohio.
Just thinking about that candy dish made me taste the peppermint slowly dissolving on my tongue. I could almost hear Grandma saying,“Help yourself to a piece of peppermint, Burt.” That voice had a smile behind it. It was a voice I hadn’t heard for a long time.
Aha! I took one last shot, then dribbled to the back door, ran up the steps two at a time, and grabbed my wallet.

I can’t wait to tell you the decision my parents had just made. They plan to give birth to a second child. How excited it is! Being the only child in the family, most teenagers like you grow up lonely, that does harm to our psychological health. However, things will change from now on. I am going to have a sibling to play. I will help my parents looking after my sibling when he/she is born, ensuring that he/she grows up happy with love and affection all around. However, I am afraid that I know little about how to take a good care of a baby and how to set a good example to him/her. I want to get some advices from you but I am looking forward to your early reply.

9 . Nothing could stop Dad. After he was put on disability for a bad back, he bought a small farm in the country, just enough to grow food for the family. He planted vegetables, fruit trees and even kept bees for honey.
And every week he cleaned Old Man McColgin's chicken house in exchange for manure(肥料). The smell really burned the inside of your nose. When we complained about the terrible smell, Dad said the stronger the manure, the healthier the crops, and he was right. For example, just one of his cantaloupes filled the entire house with its sweet smell, and the taste was even sweeter.
As the vegetables started coming in, Dad threw himself into cooking. One day, armed with a basket of vegetables, he announced he was going to make stew(炖菜).Dad pulled out a pressure cooker and filled it up with cabbages, eggplants, potatoes, corns, onions and carrots. For about half an hour, the pressure built and the vegetables cooked. Finally, Dad turned off the stove, the pot began to cool and the pressure relief valve sprayed out a cloud of steam. If we thought Dad's pile of chicken manure was bad, this was 10 times worse. When Dad took off the lid, the smell nearly knocked us out.
Dad carried the pot out and we opened doors and windows to air out the house. Just how bad was it? The neighbors came out of their houses to see if we had a gas leak!
Determined, Dad filled our plates with steaming stew and passed them around. It didn’t look that bad, and after the first wave had shut down my ability to smell, it didn’t offend the nose so much, either. I took a taste. It would never win a prize in a cooking competition, but it was surprisingly edible, and we drank up every last drop of soup!
