Daniel and Lucas are twins. They are teenagers, studying in the same class. Their teenage life is rich and colorful. Tony is their grandpa, whose age is 70 this year. The two grandsons like to take exercise with their grandpa and even go out on adventures.
In the summer of last year, they paid a visit to Stone Mountain Park with their grandpa. They had the opportunity to spend the day with their grandpa, seeing the various beautiful sights and attractions. One thing that three of them had really desired to do was climb to the top of the mountain. Stone Mountain isn’t a very high mountain and fortunately there are some walking routes to the top of it, but for the two teenagers, along with a rather old grandpa, it’s a difficult task.
Daniel and Lucas were much more interested in the walk than their grandpa, and they viewed it as an exciting adventure. But climbing the mountain was a rather big challenge for Tony, who was old and thin. He decided to start the slow walk up to the mountain.
It seemed like that Tony was taking forever to climb just a short distance, but considering his personal safety, he had to remind himself that it took him two steps to equal his grandsons’ one step. When he walked closer to his grandsons, he had to stop for a while to regain energy, and then tried to catch up with them, over and over again.
Tony was very tired. He just wanted to arrive at the top of the mountain as soon as possible to enjoy the beauty of the mountain top. But the twin grandsons were not focused at all on the trial of climbing the mountain. On the contrary, they were simply enjoying the journey of the walk. They enjoyed all that they had seen and all that they had heard along the way up to the top of the mountain. They stopped now and then to look at every large rock and observe the unusual plant formations. Suddenly, they found a strange plant. Daniel called out, “Grandpa, here is a special plant. Come and have a look.”

Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for the next generation of 13-18 years old female startup founders and change-makers (you) who are building a mobile app, hardware device, robotics project, game, or something no one has invented yet. You can submit in up to teams of 4. Feel free to apply with your projects from your previous tech experiences or build out an entirely new idea.
What You Could Win
You could win the opportunity to present your project in front of expert teenager judges, tech/VC moguls(大人物) and change makers during a live Presentation Day in San Francisco on September 1. Winners receive S10,000 in funding, mentorship and a booth at TechCrunch Disrupt to take their project to the next level.
The Founder of WiTehch
Audrey Pe is an incoming high school junior from the Philippines. Because current Philippine curriculum is lacking in computer science education, Audrey taught herself to program using available online resources. As she pursued her interest in a technology career, she found very little support and no female role models within the industry. While attending tech conferences Audrey met other girls with similar interests for the first time. At 15 she gathered a team of students and founded Women in Technology (WiTech). WiTech is a community organization that educates, inspires and empowers young girls to break barriers and use technology to make positive differences in society.

“Time to get up. It’s your birthday.” Alex opened his eyes and looked up. His parents were standing next to his bed holding a breakfast muffin. “We can do anything you want today,” said his mom.
He jumped up to get dressed as quickly as he could, already imagining what kind of day he would have at the beach. He had always dreamed about playing in the sand and jumping in the waves. He nearly tripped (绊倒) as he ran down the stairs on his way to the kitchen.
Alex’s dad asked him what he wanted to do today. “The beach,” he shouted with joy.
The expression on his mom’s face changed from joy to sadness. She knew the one place that he would not go was the beach. When her husband had been a young boy of Alex’s age, he had a terrifying experience at the beach. Alex’s dad shook off his initial (最初的) shock of hearing his son’s plan.
“How about we go to the zoo instead?” he suggested. “The beach is over two hours away.”
“But dad, I’ve wanted to go to the beach my WHOLE life,” Alex pleaded.
“Son, I’m sorry, but we are not going to the beach and that’s final.”
They ended up driving to the zoo. It was an exciting day, but Alex could not get the beach out of his mind. He yearned to build a sandcastle, swim in the ocean and chase the incoming and outgoing waves. The beach seemed like the best place on earth.
Over the next few weeks, he dreamed about it almost every night. Any free moment he had was spent filling his room with pictures and drawings of beaches. He repeatedly pleaded with his mom to help him convince his dad to take them to the beach. Each time she explained that they could do other things as a family, just not the beach.
One night, Alex received what he thought was good news. His dad was going on a three-day business trip the next day. “This is an opportunity,” he thought to himself.
