1 . Traditional American summer camps offer young people a chance to play many sports. These camps may be in the mountains.     1     Some camps teach activities like painting or music. Or they teach computer programming or foreign languages. Children at all kinds of camps meet new friends.

Some children go to camp during the day and return home at night.     2     Children stay at an overnight camp for between one and eight weeks. Parents need to pay. Children from poor families might not have a chance to attend summer camps. The Fresh Air Fund is a well-known organization.

    3     Each summer it sends ten thousand poor children to stay with families in the country or to five camps in New York State.

    4     Many American women now work outside the home. Working parents need a place where their children can be cared for during the summer when they are not in school.

Young people who like the arts can learn about painting, music, acting or writing. Camps that offer programs in science and environmental studies are popular, too. There are also camps for older children who like wilderness adventure.     5     Or, they go rock-climbing or horse-riding.

2 . This New Year, it may be time to include a little football in your family traditions. Maybe the grandkids are old enough to play.     1    . No matter how you spend your holiday, a good game of pick-up football might just be what you need to make your New Year more interesting.

After months of being absorbed in colorful garden catalogue, I often hit the nursery (苗圃) in May, filled with inspiration and adventure. “This year,” I say, “I'll try everything!” But time has taught me that this wild ambition can work against me. If I choose too many plants to experiment with, my plantings will crowd each other out. Try making a map of your garden before you head to the garden center, using the recommended spacing to guide your design.

Reassess your garden tool collection.

Just like indoor clutter, garden clutter can result from having too many tools. Some tools are necessary for every gardener.     5     They can build up and collect dust or dirt. So go through your tools and decide which tools don't work for you and which are your forever garden companions.

7 . Nowadays, many people do not have the time to even take a deep breath.     1     Here is a list of some productive things to do in your free time.

Settle your house.     2     There is a common saying. “A clean home is a happy home.” Instead of spending hundreds of dollars on a housekeeper, you can always do such things on your own. You will surely feel proud and joyful if your house is well kept.

Go for a walk or a jog. Rather than sitting at home doing nothing in your spare time, you can always consider going for a long walk or even a jog.     3     . Over time you will feel refreshed and these activities will become a part of your daily schedule.

Visit some tourist attractions in your city. Think about visiting some famous tourist spots in your city that you have never visited before. You can choose to go on this little trip alone or-with your friends. You will appreciate your city more during the process.     4       

    5     Often what people are unable to express through words can be conveyed(表达) by the movements of their body. Do not worry even if you think that you are terrible at it. Just remember everyone joins a dance class to have fun time, and no one is going to laugh at you.
