8 . You’ve seen other people flying kites, watching their paper creations float up into the clouds on a windy day.
The first step is to get a kite and find a large, open area. Then wait for a nice windy day.
If you have a friend to help you, have one person hold the kite while the other person holds the spool(线轴) of string. The one with the kite should hold it overhead in both hands and throw it lightly up into the wind. If the wind is strong enough, it will catch the kite and lift it up, pulling the string tight. This works well on windy days, but what if the wind isn’t strong enough to catch your kite? Then you need to let out some string and have your friend run with the kite behind him/her.
Once the wind catches your kite, start letting out string, little by little.
A.As you fly your kite, keep an eye on it. |
B.Are you ready to give it a try yourself? |
C.To finish flying, reel in the kite slowly. |
D.Keep going till your kite is at the height you want. |
E.With this added burst of speed, the kite should fly. |
F.Your perfect location shouldn’t have any trees or power lines. |
G.Keep flying your kite until you feel it’s safe in the wind again. |
9 . Coloring books are no longer just for children! In fact adult coloring books are topping bestseller lists. Why have adults decided to start coloring again?
It is to relieve stress and anxiety.
It is to go back to their childhood.
A trend among adults is to seek out childhood experiences. That’s why summer camps for adults are cropping up (大量出现) across the country.
Adults are constantly staring at screens: Desktops, laptops, tablets, phones, TVS, etc. Whether for business or personal use, it has become very difficult to “put down”. Even some readers have e-readers and tablets to consume books, magazines, and newspapers.
A.Adults lead busy, tiring lives. |
B.Coloring books are expensive. |
C.It is to put down the technology. |
D.Here are 3 reasons to let you deeply understand it. |
E.Perhaps nothing is more equal to childhood than a coloring book. |
F.It is to practise the patience and improve their relation with children. |
G.An adult coloring book provides a great outlet to escape from all of the screens. |
10 . Great Activities for Nature Lovers
Hiking
One of the easiest and most accessible ways to get close to nature is by setting out on a good old fashioned hike. Hiking generally doesn’t require any fancy equipment or special skills, just a piece of map and a thirst for adventure. This activity can be as relaxing as you make it.
Backcountry Camping
Why limit yourself to just a day hike when you can have a full weekend (or longer) adventure? Backcountry camping involves packing your tent, sleeping gear, food, and water on your back to set up camp in a remote location. If you’re an experienced hiker and camper, this is an excellent way to test your survival skills and explore the wilderness.
Mountain and Road Biking
Unlike long hikes through the woods, biking allows you to cover more ground and travel farther in nature. Mountain biking typically involves riding up and down steep slopes, between trees, and over rocks. If this sounds too intense or your tires aren’t suited for rugged terrain, consider taking a road bike on paved trails through forest preserves or along country roads.
Gardening
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to travel beyond your own backyard to experience the beauty of nature every day. If your personality is less adventurous or your mobility restricted, consider planting a garden to grow your own vegetables, fruits, herbs, or flowers. There’s something truly satisfying about mixing up a salad with fresh ingredients you grew yourself. One of the best parts about spending time in nature is that it doesn’t have to break your budget and anyone can do it.
