2 . It's a warm summer afternoon. You're cooking over a campfire. Suddenly, a few raindrops fall on your arms, and before you know it, the sky is opened up. Then you hear what sounds like thunder in the distance. What should you do? Your tent is close by and would offer shelter from the pouring rain. There's a campsite (野营地) a few minutes down the path. And then you remember that your car is parked down the road. What's your safest choice to make sure you and your families are safe?
It's a common question for many hikers and campers, especially when they're camping during summer months. Heading for your car is almost always the safest choice. Your tent and a shelter will keep you dry, but they offer little or no protection against lightning. Your car, on the other hand, will keep you dry and protect you from lightning strikes. Protecting yourself against possible lightning strikes is very important; lightning kills an average of 62 people in the US each year. If you keep all of the windows and doors closed in your car, you'll be able to return to your campsite safely.
Of course, if you're backpacking, not car camping, and if you're deep in the woods, your car won't be a good choice. So, what should you do if your car is far away and there's no other safe shelter nearby? First, you'll have to make sure that tree limbs (大树枝) or other objects don't fall on you or your campsite. Then you'll have to get in a safe position to avoid lightning, or flash flood conditions.

3 . “We said no to the invitation to the birthday party because my child says they're not even friends.”
When I read the above words, I felt heartache.
I know birthday parties can be like a trouble, but let's believe the parents who sent that invitation weren't trying to get more gifts for their kids or make things more complicated(复杂的) .
For some kids, managing school and friends is easy. Maybe you have a child who's outgoing, selfconfident or maybe you have a child who doesn't have any problems. However, for some kids, school and friends can be very difficult.
A birthday party is a fun, exciting and good opportunity. It is a chance for the kid on the sidelines to play with other kids who don't play with him/her at school or who don't call him/her a friend.
Sometimes even when the birthday party and the theme have been decided on and the difficult decision about whom to invite has been made, there can still be doubts. Those invitations can stay untouched in the bottom of the child's backpack for days, because he/she is too scared to hand them out.
I don't know your child, and I don't know you. I do know there are parents who lie awake at night wondering if their child will have the courage to hand out the invitations in the morning; I do know there are parents who hope they can depend on other parents to teach their children to be kind enough to show up. Maybe you'll never have to be one of the parents who find it hard. I know what that's like, because I have children who find it easy. But I also have a child who doesn't. And because of that, we've become a family that says yes to every invitation we receive.
Sometimes a birthday party invitation is not just a birthday party invitation; it's also an invitation to be a friend.

Ms Shi, a 28-year-old from Beijing, goes to trampoline parks almost every weekend. She said “When I was a child, I loved bouncing up and down on the trampolines, though they were just small and simple ones. They made me feel free and happy.
It’s true that today’s trampoline parks are bigger, more professional and more creative.
“Trampolining is so much fun. It doesn't feel like exercising at all.” Ms Shi said.

9 . The State Fair(集市)of Texas, the largest in the US, attracts over a million visitors every year with various exciting events. But this year's fair was canceled(取消)due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
For Savannah Robison, a student at Lake Dallas Senior High School in Texas, this is quite disappointing. She has been looking forward to the fair's youth cattle competitions since last year. “This is gonna be my last time to show my cattle; it's something really special to me,” the 17-year-old said. Youth cattle competitions are when teenagers raise their farm animals such as lambs and cows, and then show them at sale.
Robison paid a lot to get a State Fair champion. She has been saving half of her income from her part-time job for her pigs. Since mid-May, she has spent two hours feeding, walking or bathing her three pigs every day. “If I couldn't show them, I think my whole summer would just be ruined,” Robison said.
Now, there's good news. Youth market cattle shows are recently rescheduled from Sept 23 to Oct 2. Daryl Real, the fair's president, said that workers will remind people to wear masks(口罩)to make sure their safety.
However, “some students may still be thinking whether to come this year,” said Jirl Buck, a market judge. “But I think they should come and prepare their animals, and look forward to the opportunity to show their cattles at the Texas State Fair.”
Rylie Hardin, a 17-year-old also from Lake Dallas Senior High School, first stepped foot in a cattle competition at 3 years old. He wants to see his efforts pay off this year. “I worked hard for this, I want to do it, and I don't think it's too dangerous for me,” said Hardin. If the fair's events are called off, Hardin said his dad is prepared to join others to organize a pig show of their own. “They know I want to,” he said. “This is what I love to do.”
